GHS Balanced Nickel strings

Was so impressed with the Balanced Nickel Shortscale that I decided to just stick with GHS from now one - No Black magic and unicorn blood infused mojo, just awesome strings!

I've been a GHS user for the last five years. They have never let me down, except for a few minor gripes only due to my OCD-prone nature.;)

(EDIT: No commercial affiliation with GHS; just a happy customer.)

Oh wow - Found a place in Europe that had everything I needed!

(SchneiderMusik if someone should ever be in the same boat).

Ordered:

And now the waiting game begins (Well actually started to cut the nut, but will have to wait for the strings for the final touch).

Don't be. They are more alike than different.

I was just playing my Jazz this morning. The lights are about five months old now. The mediums on my Precision are nearly a year old, and will be changing them out in December. The biggest difference between the two sets is the G string. I like the heavier G. As a whole the feel and flexibility between the two sets are nearly indistinguishable. Tone too.
Thanks for the confirmation that these are not going to be uncomfortable to play. The seller when I mentioned they sent the wrong string refund it all the money and told me to keep the strings! I told him that wasn't necessary at all and a partial refund would've been more than adequate. There are still some great people in the world!

Thanks Jon!

Going with your advice on the singles :)

I found a place that sells the singles (That was actually harder than I thought!) Mouse is still hovering above the order button, just need to see if it's a reputable place (Juststrings.com).

That’s where I’ve bought all my strings for a couple of years. Good prices and fast shipping. Easy Peasy!

Just don't let psychology do you in by letting the slightly heavier gauge psych you out. Mind over matter.
Quickly was able to put them on a base tonight. The stiffness was less than I was afraid of considering the lbs, but a little more stiff than I prefer. However, by lowering the action I think they will be just fine, assuming the sound quality is what I'm hoping for. On that front, I have another identical base with Boomers with some hours of playing time on them and they have a bigger low end. I'm hoping the BNs will fill out in the lows to match something like Boomers. I rehearsal tomorrow night and will give the BNs a go--knowing they will thicken up a bit with more playing time. Of course there is that knob thing that says Bass on the amp head I could use as well, but I typically don't do much knob twisting.

Got to use the BNs tonight in practice. I have to boost the lows to apromiximate those of the RCBs or Reg Boomers for that matter. I'm hoping these will blossom in the lows, if not I might go back to the RCBs after these are done. But I do like the feel. Only TI Jazz Rounds feel more smooth, for rounds. But they are smaller strings with smaller windings.

Interesting. How long have you been playing them so far? I seem to recall the low tonality starts sounding optimally full after maybe ~10 hours of playing? On my bass, to my ears, the BNs definitely sound more full on the low end than any Boomers I have used.
