is there any chance for 'extra light' Balanced Nickels (with tension in the mid 30s)?
At age 62, I will be exploring the lighter side of life in the new year to be kinder and gentler to my battle-scarred hands.
The GHS Pressurewounds ML7200 (44-58-80-102) have been my go-to strings for the last few years as I've always tried to keep the tension on each string between 40 and 45 lbs. for optimal playability and relative comfort.
G 044 - 43.3 lbs.
D 058 - 41.9
A 080 - 44.6
E 102 - 39.5 (169.3)
I'd like to try bringing them down to between 35 and 40 lbs...
So, this means trying the L7200 set (40-54-76-96) on my 5-string Yamaha along with the Progressive 130B.
G 040 - 37.2 lbs.
D 054 - 36.5
A 076 - 39.3
E 096 - 34.2 (147.2)
B 130 - 31.5 (178.7) - Progressive
And trying the M7200 set (44-62-84-106) on my Jazz bass, tuned to D-G-C-F.
F 044 - 34.4 lbs.
C 062 - 38.6
G 084 - 37.4
D 106 - 38.1 (148.5)
Now, back to the Balanced Nickels...
BN 4L-NB, tuned to Eb-Ab-Db-Gb:
Gb 040 - 38.5 lbs.
Db 056 - 38.3
Ab 076 - 38.7
Eb 101 - 38.0 (153.5)
BN 4M-NB, tuned to D-G-C-F:
F 044 - 37.7 lbs.
C 060 - 36.5
G 080 - 36.3
D 106 - 35.6 (146.1)
Just throwing a few ideas around for fun...
