Mid '70's Grabber. If I had it to do over again I don't know if I'd sold it to get the Precision or not. I love my Precision but the Grabber had a WONDERFUL neck without any dead spots.

I tried out a RD Artist of the same era that was mighty cool but WAY out of my price league.

Never played one and they aren't appealing to me. On the other hand, if I were a guitar player, I'd definitely own a Les Paul.

Set neck, square headstock, non-sliding pickup. Two pickups. Ripper or grabber?
Whichever it was I had it and loved it and only sold it because a friend of mine loved it so. Damn friendship.

T-Bird
Have only played a T-Bird, and it needed a setup bad, but was nice.
Played a Grabber or Ripper a long time ago, the action was at least 1/2" high at the 12th, strings were as dead as dead can be.
I have heard a local guy playing one (same one?) and he had a great growly tone, but I don't like the looks of 'em.

Well I came close to buying a Epiphone EB0 once. I said once only because it was a short scale and I find short scale strings rare and small selection to choose from.

I also came close to deciding to get a Epiphone EB3 but, set necks are a turn off.

However I love both basses the Sidewinder sounds like mud and it appeals to me I just love it. Perhaps maybe in the future Gibson/Epiphone will come out with a EBO that's long scale, bolt on, and just a neck sidewinder. That's my perfect bass/dream bass.

Thunderbirds I'm sort of indifferent about Yeah, they look cool but, I find they only have one kind of tone despite two pickups maybe if the stuck a Sidewinder at the neck and a TB pro in the bridge yeah that'd totally rock.

In the past I've owned a G-3, RD Artist, EB-0, and Victory Artist. My personl faves were the G-3 and the Victory...

Grabber - sliding pickup,bolt on neck.

G3 - same as Grabber,but 3 single coil pickups instead of the sliding pickup.

Gibson Thunderbird IV Bi-Centennial '76

A battle scarred warhorse by any other name...We grew old together!

Played through an Ashdown MAG 307W and 600W Capacity 4X10 deep bass bin.

'Ears might bleed but the heart will sing!'

There is no other bass...simple like so!

I love my Rd std. The only problem withit is that it weighs a ton! My Thunderbird is awesome! Thin neck,light weight & powerful.

Have never played a Gibson bass that I liked as much as I do any other of my basses, which include American Standard Fender Jazz V, Ibanez BTB405QM, Squier FVM Fretless, Steinberger L2, and my Carvin LB75AP Anniversary, Icon IC5. And a Lakland 55-01, Musicman Sabre, Ric 4001. I use to own a Gibson EB-O and hated it, neck dive forever - thud, thud, thud.
