Gibson BFG Bass

I picked this one up about a year ago. I'm good.

This I like.

The BFG on the other hand does nothing for me....except make me a little nauseous.

To each his own though...

The bridge on the Les Paul Standard Bass is a marvel of nature. Top rate engineering on Gibson's part. I don't see any way to make it better. It's fully adjustable in every direction. ;)

It's a shame that more people didn't take to it. I think it's one of Gibson's finest accomplishments. Spectacular tone, playability, and balance. It was worth every cent they charged for it. :smug:

Not usually a fan of the Les Paul body for bass, but that one is really nice, main_sale!
Excellent taste!

A big +1 on the BFG bass knobs, they just don't belong, but they're the easiest (and cheapest) thing to change for something more appropriate, so no biggy.

The same could be said about several Gibson bass designs, I think, not just the bridge.
The Victory series was especially under-rated IMO.
Never much liked the look of the Grabber/Rippers but they can sound incredibly good.

Kind of like wondering why Fender guitar amps became so popular while others foundered...

Sorry for the derail, back to thread.....:D

Pretty!! Don't care for the tuners much - too skinny. Would look better with the beefy 70s tuners.

Like the Les Paul body. It's kind of a cross between the Studio Bass and the G3.
Don't know why Gibson jams the pup up against the neck. Not a slapper fo' sho'

That's actually a Warwick bridge :)
And Victory basses used Schaller bridges IIRIC.
And LP DC bass uses ABM bridge....
The BFG bass obviously uses an OEM ToM bass bridge. The same as on Washburn Idol basses.

Gibson own bridge designs... well...
