You could always do ultralight tuners and heavy brass knobs to help the balance. I did that with my 2017 and it is very comfortable now.

Once I adjusted to the neck profile on my 2017 (figuring yours is similar) I prefer it to every other 5 string that has come and gone. Had some very nice ones too.

Well,

the Epiphone has some the obvious differences like the bigger headstock, other hardware and pickups. Besides this the neck and body are also slightly different in shape. Both have no neckdive.

The Gibbo has a darker, louder and bigger Sound with a deeper lowend. The Epi sounds a little rougher with more mids, making it the better choice for harmonics. The finish on the Epi is cleaner than on the Gibson. I have ti figure out if I like one better than the other. At the moment I like both equally for what they are.

The Epi sure is a good bang for the buck by any means.

I don't know if anyone is still handing out handing out numbers. Here is my 2013 Gibson EB. I bought this on a clearance sale for like $600 in late 2014 as they were being discontinued. I love the sound of this bass so much. I've been running it with the neck pickup split, and the bridge in humbucker mode. Has a really nice passive tone. I'll take a number if anyone is manning the club.

So, I've had this a few weeks now and after some slight (all reversible) modding, she's right where I want her. '67 Eb-2C. Came with a Novak Fatbucker installed and the original mudmucker in the case. I also removed the bridge, mute, and cover, replacing the bridge with a Hipshot. The baritone switch was not sounding good with the Novak, so I also disconnected it and rewired it like a standard EB0 with CTS 500k pots, Orange Drop caps, and a Switchcraft jack.

I have to say, it sounds way better with the Novak and rewire than I could have ever hoped for. I've played a lot of these basses over the years, and while I've always been a fan of the Gibson mud, there are so many

more useable tone settings with this pickup. And, it can still throw that Gibson sound out, too. While I've been a long time Gibby fan, I've been playing a Rickenbacker in my surf band for the last few years. It just cut through so much better than my SG. I think those days are over now. This bass cuts and has serious bottom.

Anyone here familiar with Peerless? Yes, I know they've been around for a long time behind the scenes making guitars and basses for other companies like Court and Samick, but has anyone ever bought an actual Peerless Bass? Came across these and I am smitten. Especially the Flame Maple. I understand that these are chambered and feature many Gibson style items.

A 2013 EB5 which was absolutely NOT on my shopping list BUT I've been toying with the idea of getting a fiver that would not cost an arm and a leg for some time now, and this little guy checked the vast majority of the boxes.

It's still way too early for anything close to a serious review of it, but my initial impressions are positive.

The bass sounds very transparent - a trait that I've found in the 2017 version as well - and plays well with effects from what I can tell. Quite a few usable sounds, without finagling too much with the controls, and the coil splitting on these is a thing of beauty.

I've got a similar looking 2017 version on the way right now. I was looking for a new 4/5 string and Thomann is having a firesale on these right now. Made in the US, with a hardshell case and price less than an LTD or a Mexican Fender.. pretty much a no-brainer at that point. I also like how it looks because it really doesn't remind me of any existing basses (that I've seen so far). Let's just hope my luck with Gibson QC continues.. I've had a good run so far.

I think they built JC Les Paul sig basses for Epiphone for a while. They still make them under a different name too. I say go for it. It's a good deal for a bass with that much bling either way.
