I think these are some of the most awesome sounding Gibsons ever. I was so impressed with my first one that I immediately set out to find another one. They have the sound that I wanted from the RD Artist without the weight. They have all the thump of the old EBOs and the mids an treble to cut through. Just awesome. Sorry if you guys are sick of seeing these, but people really need to know what great instruments these are.

I like play for zero's cherry sunburst Victory Artist. But does it sound that much different than an RD Artist? The Q-80 (which has the Victory body shape) is quite different from the Victory (mahogany body, passive pickups) though to me it looks as cool.

The Victory Artist is definitely different from the RD Artist in sounds produced. You can have both without duplicating the sound.

The basic usable sounds that I get out of the Victory are similar to those that I liked that I heard being produced by the RD and it's a whole lot lighter. Obviously, I don't have the Moog portion and some of the bells and whistles that go with that, but I'm a pretty straight forward player and don't use a lot of effects anyhow. In this case, so much the better for my back.

How are the Gibson recording basses been wanting one for ages after seeing Les Paul playing the guitar version?.

The Triumph is a really nice bass. Short scale of course and with so many sounds. I've recorded with one, and yes you get a nice clear sound, as you'd expect, but of all the settings, I tend to stick to just one or two of the fatter sounds.

Just can't get into the out of phase settings, however hard I try.

The EB-1. Is that the violin bass? I had an opportunity to buy either a Gibson Violin Bass, or a Gibson Gold top Les Paul, my choice $149.00 back in the early 70's. Since the violin bass weighed a ton I bought the Les Paul for our guitar player instead, He got lit up during a major gig in Detroit and accidentally smashed the headstock off of it during our Who smash up type song. Brought him right down.

To show just how bright I was, I saw one go for 6500 on ebay not long ago.

I have one of the 400 SG Supreme AAA Maple Basses Gibson made in January of 2007. My camera just broke so I can't get a good picture now, but here's an old blurry pic from the seller:

My first attempt at bass playing was in the mid to late 60's. I played lead guitar in a band. The bass player had an EB-3. He sucked at bass, so I had to spend a lot of time teaching him bass parts for the songs we performed. A little over a year ago, I decided to become a "real" bass player. Fond memories of the EB-3 led me to buy this SG Supreme.

Here's a bass that I bought yesterday. I paid $1,100 for it. They said it was a 1970, but It's not because of the pick-up placement and the larger headstock. It also has a 3 bolt bridge. I love the way it sounds, but I want to replace the pick-up and add another to the bridge. Ant comments? Thanks

Save all of the hardware you remove and don't cut into the body---that way, if you want to sell it, you can replace everything and make a profit selling it as Vintage.
