Gibson SG-EBO-2-3 style Pickup REPLACEMENTS?

SO MANY GOOD INFOS IM FINALLY LEARNING:hyper: In that being said i decided to go with the Curtis novak EB-BS Bisonic pickup for the neck and a seymour duncan SRB-1rickenbacker for the bridge... at this point i dont even think id need a precision pickup with tones like these... and the wiring would be totally out of my comprehension by even thinking about it... i dont actually know how to wire and create circuts to connect the pickups for the ones i am for sure getting right now so id have to take it into my favorite luthier store in town to inquire. But for the 3 pickup placements i envisioned a toggle scheme that has 3 toggle switches and the MIDDLE toggle switch wouldbe a choice to toggle from 2 outer switches. the first closer outer one would have 3 choices between playing the seperate pickups on their own.The second further outer one would have 3 options:

-mix the neck and middle
-mix the middle and bridge
-mix neck and bridge

and the middle would be just to choose between playing seperate or mixed styles.

I probably sound like a ranting lunatic at this point but ****.. when someone has a vision its good to see if its actually possible or not....

I think this is a great sounding modded EB3 that doesn't sound like a stock Gibson, nor like a Fender, nor like a Guild, who made the pickups. I've got some Dark Stars and I'm just waiting for the right EB0 or EB3 to come along to mod like this.

The dual mudbucker mod is probably one of the more sensible EB3 mods I've seen. Mudbuckers are wound so hot, about the only thing that will realistically pair well with it is another mudbucker.

But you know, that hasn't stopped me from using a Thunderbird bridge pickup in place of a mini-humbucker. So whatever.

Yikes, double mudbuckers sounds crazy thick. I had an EB2D for my first bass back in the 70s and one of the first things I did was put in some Bartolinis. Made it much more useful, I hated the mudbuckers. I miss that bass.

Mudbuckers certainly ain't for everyone. Definitely NOT your typical bass sound. However, I am a fan. That's why I ditched the TB pup in my SG bass for one.

I actually haven't used one since the 70s. I bet with modern amp and speaker technology they are a lot more successful. Back then, it was nothing but a muddy, distorted blur. They overloaded the inputs to the Fender Showmen I was using, along with probably the whole rest of the signal path. Speakers? Fahgeddaboudit! I blew up a lot of JBL 15s back then.

Yeah, they have a funny way of being powerful as all hell. But I bet a mudbucker would sound great through 10s. The Thunderbird neck pup sounded good through 10s, it just lacked that thick, fuzzy Jack Bruce/Felix Pappalardi/Geezer Butler juiciness I wanted.

I used to use one with a GK-800RB. They still sound like a distorted blur. It is a very cool tone though. Nothing sounds quite like that.
