Gig Bag Recommendation?

Gator makes great gigbags. They're really sturdy too, I tote around two guitars in my mine, looking to get a double bag for bass so that I can carry my ESP and a guitar if I'm catching a flight. But you should note that they only have a single strap, that goes only one way around. The quality is really good, have travelled using public transport with that thing and after four years, no damages, touch wood.

I have the iGig double bass bag, it's only 1lb heavier than the my Levy's leather gig bag. The people that are saying it's heavy must have some other bag, cuz this bag ain't heavy. I like the iGig over the Reunion Blues Continental, another great bag, only because the RB bag rides too high and you have to bend down everywhere you go which is my only gripe about that bag. The Sadowsky Portabag pales in comparison to these two bags with respect to storage and little extras like the velcro strap that goes around the neck of your bass to keep it in place in the bag.

I was researching gig bags recently - decided on the Protec Contego and couldn't be happier. Very comfortable to carry over one shoulder, but also has the backpack option or just carry by the handles (good balance). Pockets galore. Even better is the protection it offers being more of a hybrid case, and my 35" Lull 5 string fits perfectly.

Price matters.

For a fairly inexpensive gig bag, G&L makes a great one –nice and sturdy for a bag, 2 useful compartments, and a hanger hook. I bought one for $40 used, and it would be worth buying new for twice that.

I also have an Ultimate Support gig bag that I think pretty highly of –great storage in 3 nice compartments. It's my current fave for an affordable single bag. Paid about $45 for it used. Also about $80 new.

Both of them have hide-away backpack straps, which I don't ever use.

I've had a double Undercover gig bag for seven or eight years. It is comfortable, no tears, minimal wear, holds two 35" scaled basses fine and has a fairly large amount of room to store your stuff. I can't recommend it enough.

I bought mine at Bass Central. The double is currently $215 and the single is $149.
