It's too hot here for Converse high-tops.

Well... most bands I'm in (except one) have a dress code that also applies to shoes.

In one (or two), it's black dress shoes to go with the all-black pit musician look.

In the other, it's Vans of your choice to go with the Rockabilly theme.

For anything else, I wear what's comfortable. No flip flops though.
Most bands have a dress code? You are definitely not from California... :) Ach, Sie sind aus Deutschland. Ich liebe deine heimat...

Well, I reckon it depends on which band, what the others members are wearing, and where we're playing at.

The top two photos are my only year round daily footwear... Boots in rain or snow, black hi top Chucks every day there's no precipitation. Either of these will work with band#1 as well.

The bottom row is getting into band#2 territory, or just for those crazy nights on the town  I've a couple dozen of these seemingly punishing configurations that I've mastered (not pictured), but they're getting less wear since the old days (nights) in L.A., plus I'm turning 50 next month o_O

That second pair is in Kiss tribute band territory.

So they make seats for your feets. I have two of their bicycle seats.

Yup, Fizik makes damn fine cycling shoes, and the saddles are good, too, of course.

In addition to the two-tone posted above, I've also got some all-blacked out Airwalks which are great for being comfortable while still "conforming" to "dress-shoes" code of some BLs. Used to have all-black leather Reeboks way back when, but AFAIK Reebok discontinued that model.

Looks like he's on some kind of mat.

From Oteil:

I’ve had a lot of people ask me what it is that I’m standing on during the Dead & Company shows. Here is the official quote from our sound designer Derek Featherstone: ”The pad is a Porter & Davies KT shaker platform. We send the low frequency notes of his bass instrument into this device so he can feel the low end as he plays.” Hence, why I like to play barefoot! https://www.porteranddavies.co.uk/products/kt-platform/

Cool topic. Im an older guy, I dont do the cool clothes thing, have no tats. I leave it to my shoes. Most gigs it’s black wingtips, polished to military spec. Shiny! Great for pedals too with that pointy toe. This black pair i purchased in 1990. Jusy a couple weeks ago got a new pair. Brown, but they will polish up fo sho.

Usually low-cut black/black Nike Air Force 1 but for special occasions my blue suede Vans.
I found these purple suede Vans yesterday. Had to get them!
They are very uncomfortable, so I also bought a pair of $15 running shoe inserts, which made them pretty tolerable.
