Gig Report - Quick trip to Clearwater, FL

The band I'm in, Ransom, is a Christian metal band that plays covers but we re-write the lyrics to share a positive message. We drove down to Clearwater last Friday to support one of the churches in our organization by performing with one of our other groups (a rap/R&B style group; odd, I know, but they're good and it works).

We set up Friday night, sound-checked Saturday, performed Saturday night, and packed up & went home. Got back in to town just before 3 am! It was a good trip, and with the changes our band has gone through along with our limited schedule for the last year and a half, it was a good show IMHO, albeit short.

So here's my first shot at a gig report - we went to Deland at the end of June but I was so busy during setup and tear-down I didn't get enough pics of that trip to do any justice. Inspired by @BassCliff I tried to get a better variety this time, so here goes.

PS, @JimmyM - sorry we weren't able to connect this time, maybe when I'm closer or let me know when you're up in NE FL!

We packed up the night before (Thursday)

It helps to have some help - otherwise we do it all.

Our lead player, Lloyd, is behind me to my left at the right edge of the pic, and our rhythm player is the kid pointing upward right above my head. The rest of this motley crew came to support and act in a couple of dramas.

Finally! 3 1/2 hours to Tampa (in the distance) and the a/c in this little 25 psgr. van just couldn't keep up with Florida's heat.

So TB has limited my attachments, maybe I'll post those in a separate posting. Overall it was fun, although we got back home very late and had to get up early Sunday morning. It was worth it though.

Wow! That's not exactly like singing hymns out of the hymnal, and a lot different than the Matt Redman, Hillsong, or Tommy Walker songs we play. I hope you are reaching a lot of folks with that timeless Message, repackaged to sound more relevant to today's youth. I take it there were no "blue hairs" in the crowd.

That is quite a production, lots of gear, setup, logistics, etc. The musicianship is excellent. Thanks for sharing. I hope your efforts plant many seeds and bear much fruit.

Hi Cliff!! Yes, very different but it is a great tool. Actually, there were some 'older' people there who enjoyed it, and one lady (in her 50's or 60's??) who was dancing!

Thank you sir for the very kind words and well-wishes - compliments from a seasoned pro are very humbling! We're still working in a new backup singer and the kid playing rhythm is now on a mike so it's still a work in progress to get us back to gelling like we have in the past.

Oh, this was just our light-weight, portable set. If we can connect when you come to Jax, I'll show you the big guns.

Thanks a ton! And ya, dontcha know, I'm also from Minnesota! I grew up in the northern suburbs between Roseville and Columbia Heights.

Hearing protection is worn all the time - especially this gig, where I got to push that Mesa into the sweet zone. It sounded awesome!

Thanks - I think our next show is in September at one of our satellites in town, and I'm not sure after that. I really miss playing in our theater but we've been focusing on other live productions in it.

Speaking of, I found the links to a concert we did last August that I recorded with my Sony - the sound is pretty good, but the camera is stationary and the angle is pretty wide, and without a 'camera man' the clips are 30 min long and break up the songs a little. FF the first video to 5:45 as I had to start it and then run on stage. @BassCliff, this is the 'big guns' lol!
