I owned a pair of Hartke Hydrive 112's for a minute and they sounded really good. You can switch the ohms between 4 & 8.

Bigger footprint too. Just picked one up and it dwarfs my Berg HDN212 footprint. For a single 12, the Genzler is king.

Rumble 112 (don't knock it till you hear it; I use two and they are wonderful).
Avatar 112 with ceramic speaker.

I also have a Subway 112 and it just doesn't have the balls on its own, but sounds great with a Subway 115. It's a very detailed speaker, with not a lot of low end.
The Aguilar is similar to the Subway: not very meaty as a single cab, but possibly OK in a pair. I really don't like these at all.

The Rumble 112s are meaty as a single cab on the floor, and have a kind of a 15" vibe in the midrange. I love mine.

The Avatars are neat and sound pretty good, but they are relatively inefficient so you need to jack them with power to get them to any kind of volume. I liked mine when I had it, but not enough to keep it.

Bergantino HT112ER

I thought both were simply spectacular and blew away anything I'd used previously of comparable weight and size. With either of these I never had any problems competing for sound volume or tonal clarity in a live situation with even two obnoxiously obtrusive guitarists or the most heavily pounding drummers. For reasons I don't have time to describe I've used the Markbass much more than the Berg but the Berg is super awesome and I don't really have any bad things to say about it.

MAS 112. Kick major booty.

Mike Arnopol's Bodai 112 is, in my opinion, the best 112 out there. It's large and heavy and expensive for a 112... comparable in those areas to a 212, but then it's probably the best 212 out there as well!

I thank you both very much, each of those cabs of mine does some things pretty well, but my (reluctant!!) vote is still for Mike's cab.

Thanks for the mention, guys. Yeah--tyhe MAS112 and Bodai 112 really compare to 212's. Sizewise, volumewise and pricewise.

The MAS Bodai 110 would be a better comparison. Goes a tad louder than most 112's.

I love my Bergantino HT112ER as a stand alone. A bit on the heavier side but holds up well with a band.

Aguilar GS112. I have two of them (one w/ a horn, one without) and they sound great.

Also my recommendation... however, I will confess to upgrading the drivers in mine. I just happened onto a deal for some neo speakers that were a good match, tried 'em, liked 'em, kept 'em. The original drivers killed as well, I would've dropped them back in had the neos not worked and've been a happy camper either way. Anyway, Aguilar makes great boxes!

DNA's DNS112. Power handling is 450-watts rms, 900-watts peak. Weight is 34-lbs. standard version or 30-lbs. Neo version. Sensitivity is 99db 2.83v (1-watt)/1 meter and max SPL is 129db. Frequency response is 32Hz to 14KHz and coverage pattern is 60°. Big thing though is you need to hear them to appreciate them.

At a street price of $699 they are not cheap but they sound great! With luck you may find one used for ~$450. There's a nice review of them from Bass Musician Magazine at the link below. Eric Parsons usually uses an 810 and he took 2 of these to his gig in Sacramento:

I have an Aguilar SL112 and I absolutely love it. It goes great with the TH500, they sound (and look) great together. IMO it is suited for passive basses where you want a tube-y vibe in a lightweight package. I have tried the same cab with a used Subway D800 head I recently acquired, and those sound good together too (though they look kind of mismatched -- makes me want a Subway cab... ouch, my OCD... ).

I run 2 SL112's with a Mesa Prodigy. Light. Tubey. Very happy !!

So I was searching for a related thing and figured I'd piggy back on this thread a little. I found an old thread but is there anything out there now that does the Aguilar DB112 thing in a lighter, maybe slightly smaller package? I tried SLs and they had no punch. I really love the DBs and will continue to use them but wonder if any current offerings fit the bill. Wouldn't have to be a 112 but I like the modular thing so again just looking for similar size and lighter.
