That's how my MB210 is. It was phased wrong when combined with the 210MBE. GK has my combo now working on it. The combo itself has plenty of "guts" by itself to over come a loud drummer.

GK Combo Shootout...MB210 vs. MB212

Not sure how your drummer plays, but there was no way my 210 by itself would stand a chance in the band mix last night. It was struggling even with the added 15. I have some recordings I did w a new zoom H1. Once I fugure out what I'm doing with that I can maybe post a clip or 2.
I can drown out any drummer I play with. My MB210 by itself has plenty of headroom. There was probably something wrong with your setup. People are reporting phase issues with the MBE cabs, and I would suspect that you are experiencing the same issue.
I'm intrigued by this. Playing for the first time in a while tomorrow, to audition a drummer. I was gonna bring both MB210s, but I think I'll bring just one. I'll report back. No idea how loud he plays ...

Yes, I agree. I have the MB212, and I play in a 2 guitar, bass & drums classic rock band. Loud stuff, Grand Funk, James Gang, etc. It has no problem whatsover keeping up with the guys, I also have a GK 800RB w/Avatar 2-12 cab, and this kills it. Hmmm..
Couldn't wait for the warranty to expire so I install a phase switch which allow me to revere the speakers leads on my MB210 and a speaker disconnect that will allow me to run my backup amp without having any current going to the MB210 head.

Did that fix the problem? Wow, that's easy. I'm thinking of getting the 115MBE but was worried from all the reports. Sheesh, if it's just a reverse wire it's not much of a problem.
I was also thinking about your cutoff mod. It could come in handy someday.

I am playing mostly old soul, blues, 50's and 60's jazz, some funk, like the Meters, Tower of Power and Motown. I like the sound of the Ampeg B15, just more of it. Can I get this sound out of the MB212? How would it compare to similar wattage and 2 15"s?

I've owned both the 210MBE and 212MBE cabinets (not combos). Regardless of amp head the 210MBE didn't have enough umph to compete with a loud drummer and guitards.
I'm still looking for an excuse to crank my MB212 up to or past 12 o'clock. It's plenty loud, I've only used the PA for support only once out of about 12 gigs. I didn't need it then, but we were playing at a ski resort parking lot and were covering a very large area. I just ran from the on-board DI, and was guite pleased.
I'm thinking that for anyone that really needs more for stage volume should be wearing earplugs for sure.

My experience with the MB210 in a rock band situation has been great. I have never had a problem keeping up with a drummer or guitarist. I play in a couple of what I would call "pick up" bands that play classic rock and the MB210 has worked great. I haven't had a chance to play it with my stoner rock originals band but, based on my experience with other amps, I believe that the MB210 will work great.

I chickened out and brought both, and it was way overkill. I had Boost and Master at noon but the Gain at only 9:00. EQ knobs all in the 10:00-2:00 range (mids-heavy). Passive input, lots of bass-heavy effects.
Afterward they said I wasn't too loud but I wonder, and again I had the Gain barely open on both. I wouldn't even have to push a single combo to equal the volume I was putting out last night. (I usually go Gain/Master/Boost all at noon when I just rock one.) Next week I will only bring one.
He is a way loud drummer.

That could actually be interesting using one amp set up very clean for the lows and then the other one could be set up kind of dirty with the lows rolled off and the highs cranked.

That's a thought. I could go all pillowy doom out of the bottom one and the actual notes I'm playing on top. Might try that. Thanks!

Great info guys, I want to buy an MBE210 cab when they arrive here, I was worried after reading about the problems but if its just a small matter of pulling a couple of spade connections and re-attaching them the other way then I will still buy one, are these wires different colours to identify them ?
I'm not sure which wires they moved but GK only did it to my combo. They said they didn't need the ext cab to fix the problem.
