Thanks for sharing! Those settings look pretty darn close to what I use, except for the Boost. Just wondering what your band doesn't like about it? (...and how they can hear the difference!)

GK Combo Shootout...MB210 vs. MB212

Yeah, sounds like they want you to go to RMC Audio and get your GK stuff from them from now on. That's what I did when they kept moving the ship date on me.
Good question. I was playing the boost around 6 oclock for our first gig with the same setting described in my original post. the bass just sounded too "bassy", bone rattling, even with the bass rolled all the way down to 3. we did have a DI.
when the bass is boosted it really beefs things up, and sounds intense, some may really like this, my logic was that the boost was making my tone sound almost muddy and I like a nice flat sound. I am not quite sure the correct use of the boost as of yet, but I love the sound with the settings mentioned. plenty of power and more to spare.
any idea on the right use of the boost in a rock setting?
Don't know about "right" but I run my Input Gain and Boost at noon and use the Master Vol to control volume. Sounds righteous to me with a band, but may sound a little too gritty by itself.
I just got done jamming with my new MB212. Its really a fine piece of equipment at a great price. I run my Jazz into a Sansamp RPM into the GK and its great. Alot of room to tweak my tone from the two amp and for one channel i can make a tone thats very filling. I also really like how good the aux in sounds, it really brings out the low end with what your playing. My bands mates were extremely impressed with the quality and number of nice professional tones out of this thing. and the volume, it can get loud i hover around half way and find it to be overwhelming in our smaller practice room.
i run the boost gain and master all around 10 o clock and keep everything else near high noon. i end up backing the bass to about 9-10 o clock and tweak the low and hi mids just a bit, then take the rest from my RPM which is all pretty much straight up noon give or take 1 hr.. settings except midrange sweep which is near maxed.
btw i did get a few farts when i wasnt playing... is this common?

Well got to gig with the MB210 combo last night and I really liked what I hear, The only problem I had was trying to use my Ampeg 112 ext. cab. when I had them both connected it sound thin like a out of phase problem; so I ended up just using the mb210 by it self.
The Amp was good in handing my 5 B string and the sound full the room with ease. So I'm please with it so far.

I wonder if I had a bum 210MBE cabinet or something. The 2x10s could not handle the B on my Lakland. Total fart and distortion.
How loud you play has a lot to do with these light cabs. My 210 Epifunky would do that to me a loud volume. I would have to turn down the bass.
Mine working as good as the day I got it. I've played a few gigs here and there and it's held up like a champ. Great tone, tons of headroom, and still looks good.
That's good to hear. I was seriously hoping the floor model was in bad shape because it was a floor model and not that the amp just wouldn't hold up to the test of time.
Yeah, I wondered that too. The front grill seems a little flimsy but so far it's held up nicely. The only complaint I have with mine is that it only has a top handle and not recessed handles on the side. That would probably drive the price up more so I'm guessing they sacrificed the recess handles in order to keep prices low.
I got mine in April and have gigged it constantly. So far it has been flawless.
I'm still thinking about having mine modded so I can use it as a cab only. The MB Fusion head is the main reason for this....it would be nice to be able to use different heads, AND have a backup available in case something went wrong with the head in the combo. However, I know this comes under the heading...."Don't fix what ain't broke!"
I was thinging the same thing myself so I removed the amp from the cab and found just a small hole for the speakers lead.
What I intend to do is put a switch between the Amp and Speaker then this way I can use my BX500 as a back up amp, since I have the MB210 I don't have to add a new input jack fot the speakers.
That's correct. The 210 combo is designed to run 500 watts at 4 ohms but the 210 cab itself is an 8 ohm cab so you'll have to add another 8 ohm cab to get the full 500 watts. The 212 combo has a 4 ohm cab attached so you'll get 500 watts from that unit alone.
