GK Combo Shootout...MB210 vs. MB212

New product lines occasionally have unexpected teething problems.
Even an up-market offering like PJB's new BG-800 is currently experiencing an unexpected glitch (which is in the process of being resolved).
Thanks to the aux. in on these combos, those who use a Sans Amp model which sports a parallel output off the input, could run that to the MB combo's main input and then run the San Amp's 1/4" output to the MB's aux. in (via a 1/4" mono plug --> 1/8" stereo plug cable) thus forming a two channel pre to simulate a clean amp/dirty amp set up.

Or one could use a Boss LS-2 to switch between the G-K pre and the Sans Amp for a two-amps-in-one tonal pallet.
God damn, that would be cool.. but just alittle ghetto. Any chance that would cause any damage or issues? So just get a 1/4 > 1/8 converter? Couldnt i just run my 2nd channel in the aux in, why would it have to be the unaffected off the Sansamp. I've been running a BDI21 with my RPM and i've been liking the tone.
anyway you could run the unaffected off the Sansamp to the passive input on the GK amp, and then just take the effected off the Sansamp and run that into the aux in with a converter. Then you can get alot of control on two tones coming from the same set of speakers. If that would not cause any damage of issues, i would think that would be a very good way to get a fat tone.

The aux. in on the MB combos is intended to receive the output from CD/MP3 players. I'd expect that the combo's aux. in could also handle the main output of a Sans Amp Bass Driver DI, Para Driver DI, or VT Bass Deluxe etc if sensible output levels are used.
A prudent approach would be to connect everything and make sure that all volume controls are set to minimum before powering up the rig.
I reckon it's just a matter of time before someone tries exploiting the G-K MB combos' aux. input thusly.
Yeah its a matter of time before someone see's these posts, this isnt the first time amp have add this ability. Its normally something only on the lower level amps, the aux in that is, and i never understood why but figured its nothing something u would want to use even at medium level volume. But i would like to know because doubling up of the tone sound very appealing and a big plus for a small light box like this.
I purchased a 210MBE cab to go along with my MB200 head. Love the amp by the way!
First impressions of the 210MBE cab:
1) Definitely lite weight
2) Smaller footprint than I expected
3) Does not seem as solid as other 2x10 cabs I've used in the past but then again, the ones I've used in the past were certainly not as lite weight.
As for sound, it does sound great. But turning up the volume is where things start breaking down. My Lakland 55-02 definitely pushed the cab to its limit with the 200 watt head. That surprised me. It's the B string that pushed it too far. Don't get me wrong, it sounds great. But just not "fat" enough or something.
Now granted I didn't purchase the cab to be a stadium filling rig. It probably would do well in smaller setups. But I decided to order a 212MBE to try out side-by-side the 210MBE. My 212MBE should arrive tomorrow. I'm going to return whichever one I like least.
On the subject of tweeter hiss. Yes there is noise. Is it horribly loud? Not in my opinion. It does get worse if you turn up treble eq on either amp or bass pre-amp. But in a live setting I don't think it would be a major problem.

My Mb210 combo came in and sound good so far, I have a few gigs I'll be trying it out at so I'll let you know the real deal.
mb212 came today. its great, havent had a chance to really break it in at loud volumes but just playing my ipod through it sounds really good. my music sounds more bass heavy and crisp and is fun to play along with. have tried doubling up my tone with the aux in just running my sansamp RPM straight into the passive input or no RPM at all and getting a decent tone.

Got my 210 today also. Guess it's a big GK NAD today. 
I remember reading someone else's response here who said he was neither impressed nor disappointed. Pretty much the way I feel. Can't crank it in the house so I can't really tell what it can put out, but it is a bit lower in volume than I hoped it would be. In the padded input I was able to go to 3 almost 4 o'clock on the volume and master without coming anywhere near what my other NV610 and carvin bx500 does on 3, but I wasn't expecting it to either. Read enough reviews to be OK with what it's got.
On the good side, I don't think it's flimsy at all, no rattling, I like the tone (at low volumes), and I'm really psyched to get the extra 15 and have a portable 2X10 1X15 setup. It's something I've always wanted but never wanted to lug around. Yay. I think with the added 15 I'm going to be a very happy camper. If not, I'm going to be a very angry camper cause all this is costing pretty close to a grand.
How are you guys fairing who hooked the matching 15 up to this. I know a few people commented but I don't feel like hunting through all of this again to see.

My 212MBE did arrive today. It's really not that much bigger than the 210MBE but you can definitely feel the weight difference. Though these things are still truly remarkably light compared to the market competition.
After playing through both side by side I've decided the 212MBE is the keeper. I'm sending the 210 back. The 212 is noticeably louder at samecamp volume and just sounds more "true" or uncolored. Seems to have a wider tonal variety and just seems more able to handle the low B string and higher volumes.
That being said I think the 210 paired with a 15 would be killer. The 210 really does sound good but as a stand alone it really does not compare to the 212.

I haven't seen or heard the 212, but i have the 210 and have used it for quite a while. It is great for me because of the size and weight, and It also sounds good. The 210 seems to have plenty of volume for me. I have been playing mostly classic rock covers lately, but I would not hesitate to use this in a heavy rock band situation.

Just bought the 115. I know i'm gonna do it so there's no point in waiting. Would just be less time in this lifetime that I'll have it, and it's still going to cost me the same. That logic gets me in a lot of trouble.

Here are my settings from the MB212, played it last night in a small sized club. We did have a DI.
Passive Input, Gain @ 4 or 5, Contour OFF, Treble @ 5, Hi-Mid @ 6, Lo-Mid @ 6, Bass @ 4 or 5, Boost OFF (my band doesnt like the boost), and Master at 6. Bamn! Sounded great and everyone in the band said they loved the tone and thump. We play surf rock and harder rock.
