GK Combo Speaker replacement question

So up front for the mods: if this should be in Repairs, feel free to bounce me, just figured this is an amp question and I never post about amps.

So I have an GK 12" combo from 1986. The speaker is blown, has been for years.

GK sells replacement speakers and I was thinking about buying one and installing it myself. However, I prefer not to solder and was wondering if the speaker even has to be soldered?

I have had other amps where the speaker makes contact with the electronics by a fork-shaped hard wire that get screwed into place.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Would appreciate the info. Thanks.

This is what's been used in my GK combo for speaker connections.
You can do it all by yourself. Don't worry.

So it just plugs right in?

Even if your connections have been soldered, you can simply cut the leads near the solder joint, strip the wire ends, and crimp on the necessary blade connectors. Radio Shack and even hardware stores have them.

Then you push the female connector installed on the wire ends over the male blades of the speaker.
