GK Legacy Combos

I've seen the MB series with cloth front covers, but I can't say that I've seen these new Legacy combos with cloth...all I've seen are the grill style.

I just took a look at Sweetwater & GK's webpage, both show the 210 with grills, so I dunno. Hopefully someone far more qualified checks in here to help you out.

Floating back through with a gig report.

I had a string of party band receptions - mostly outdoors with weird load-ins, smaller “stages”, and two venues even had sound level ordinances.

Accordingly, I decided to just use my single Legacy 800 1x12 combo with a passive Lakland 5 string jazz bass with DR rounds.

Most of the gigs have small vocal PA systems and they might also run kick & keys. Sometimes I get a DI line, sometimes it’s overkill from the start.

All that said, the 1x12 covered everything with plenty of headroom to spare. It’s great to know I can grab and go with a minimal kit and get the job done and still feel satisfied with my rig.

That said, my last event had an easy load in and I had plenty of time on both ends so I stacked up the extra 1x12 and it was glorious. I even went through the PA a bit although I couldn’t really tell!

Imports have been pretty slow arriving here in Australia but I finally sourced a Legacy GK 210 extension for my 1st series Legacy 210 combo with the cloth grill.
Would be nice if they matching grills, not only for protection but aesthetics as well. Appears my OCD is alive and kicking.

Also should mention I did a gig not too long ago and the Legacy was picking up a two way radio conversation while we were performing on stage. Went on for about 15 minutes and the band was getting pretty annoyed. Couldn’t really hear it when we were playing but definitely could hear it between songs and quiet spots. Just wondering has anybody else had a similar experience, could the amp be faulty and possibly need to be checked over at the service centre?

Forest informed me that they initially produced the first batch with cloth covers and a different coating of paint, otherwise they are identical to the metal grill ones currently being produced.
Got so many compliments on my sound at a Single launch the other night just using my 210 combo (cloth version) standalone without my 210 extension and my Fender sunburst Pro series V.
Great amp!

Yeah, I actually just emailed the customer service dept last night and got a response that the metal grilles are mounted differently from the cloth, so some holes would need to be drilled. So if, knowing that, I still wanted one they'd try and track one down and get a cost to me.

Did you purchase it from a store? If so, which store? That is an amazing deal! GC has it for around $1900 and SW for around the $1600 mark. What do you like about it? Does it have enough low end? The 2x12 all in one 800w without a cab is very enticing. I, myself, am a 15" cab guy, but an all in one I am willing to ask a few questions and even purchase it if the sound is right. So, anything you can tell me about it based on your experience would be great. Any troubles with it? Would you buy it again? Thanks in advance! -Bill

I have the Legacy 800 watt 2X12, it truly is an "all in one" type of rig, I have gigged with mine all summer, and all have been outdoor gigs, my band is loud and my drummer knows how to hit a drum...I am missing nothing, the bass is plenty deep, it handles my 5 string with no issues.

Of course I've had PA support, but I've never had any issues hearing myself at the front of the stage. I've considered getting a 2x12 extension cab (or a 1x15) but not for the added volume, more so that I could get the drivers up closer to my ears...but this is nitpicking.

I run a considerable pedalboard in front of this amp, and it sounds great, it handles pedals well.


I've had zero issues, and some of these gigs have been REALLY hot, the amp runs cool and stable...I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again, even at these new higher prices.
