GK Legacy Combos

Come to think of it, not sure if I’ve actually seen the clip light either. I’ve been keeping my trim/gain knob at like 70% also with passive basses. I’m happy with the tone & power. Plus at that trim level, the OD channel just adds a bit of mids & grit - great for digging in with a pick on more rockin tunes.

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere, but I can't find it - in regards to the trim knob on my combo, am I missing out on anything if my bass doesn't drive the input to the level described in the manual? Both the manual and here on TB I've read that the ideal setting is to play until the clip light comes on, then back off slightly.

I'm not even close. Trim knob gained 100%. Pickups, (Nordstrand Big Singles in passive,) set to the recommended height.

These models have a lot of head room on the input, so it the clip light doesn't flash leave the trim dimed. (all the way up)

Happily did 3 jazz gigs this weekend with the upright & legacy 800 1x12 combo.

Fri was a jazz trio in an intimate jazz bar. The GK was actually a little too big for the “stage area” - I’ll take the slightly smaller Markbass CMD121 next time.

Sat was a jazz trio during cocktails in an old 1920s deco style ballroom high atop the Omni in Pittsburgh. The GK handled the very loud crowd with authority. It felt great opening it up a bit. Super solid low end.

Sun was our jazz quartet at an outdoor cocktail reception. Yikes, 91 degrees but the amp didn’t even break a sweat. We kept it pretty mellow though.

Bonus! The cab is the perfect height to prop up my bass.

Presenting the Tuki cover (in stealth mode) for my Legacy 1x12 combo. Of the last 18 or so gigs I’ve used this amp, it’s poured at least 3-4 times and threatened to at least another half dozen. I figured I needed a decent cover to help keep the top controls clean and the little switches on the back padded and happy. I opted for the no pockets option … although a pocket would be handy for the IEC cord, it’s pretty tight on the cart and in the car right now with both 12 cabs.

One bonus is the handle cover actually slides under handle and cushions my hand against the knuckle busting rough finish on the cab.

Looks nice! I'm still waiting on GK to make a demo of the legacy 112 combo. Only demos I hear are with distortion or playing high register ... I really want a real world type of demo with some low notes, so I can make the purchase.

I’d love to make a demo but that would lead to complaints and certain discord in my sleepy townhome community lol. I know what you mean about the crunchy Legacy demos out there right now. This little guy does pack a wallop in the clean / loud dept - especially adding a 2nd cab - but I know I could get by with just the combo in a pinch or going thru a good house sound rig.

Nice looking cover! I just picked up a Legacy 212 on Monday, and I've been looking for a cover, and I came across these Tuki's too.

How does it fit? Tight? Loose? Just about right?

The only review on the Tuki site for the 212 cover indicated it was a pretty tight fit.

It’s pretty snug on mine. They already had the model listed on their website so I didn’t bother measuring. The handle is a little offset … maybe about an inch or so more back from the front for balance. The cover is cut correctly … the drawback of not including a logo means I have to remember which way the handle cover goes … maybe if Gk make a cool patch I could have it sewn on lol

Singing the praises of the legacy 12 combo … played a small outdoor arts & music fest in York Pa - backing up this talented autistic musician Jason K. His originals are kinda smooth / funky soul jazz with some excellent melodies and solos.

I had the amp set flat across - including trim and master at noon (don’t yell at me about the trim lol) and just the deep switch engaged. The little amp on the raised stage struck a wavelength and completely filled the parking lot with bass goodness. Sounded great through the mains too.

Posting this for any concerned about how the combo handles the low B - my lakland 35 scale has a mighty B and I ride the low string a lot on certain tunes.

I would’ve brought the extension 12 but I had to roll the cart down a coupla city blocks and tried to travel light. Cheers y’all -
