Retailers are still selling GK's MB108 and MB110 - I think the MB110 might fit the bill for compactness and power.@sonosamas
Thanks for your review- I especially appreciate the grab n go comment on the 12.
I have a Markbass 1x12 combo and at just under 30lbs, it’s not exactly light either. I’m talking about situations like running up a flight of steps or schlepping a good city block or so.
Maybe I need one of those old GK MB lunchboxes with the shoulder strap gig bag - do they still make those?
I haven't played either combo, but I think Legacy has its roots in MB so I presume they are similarly great. I think I saw somewhere that Legacy is replacing MB, but I don't know when or to what extent - or even if that's true.
Two reasons why I like the newer Legacy combos over the MB line are 1) the new material that replaced tolex and 2) the metal grill. The cabinet liner reminds me of Rhino liner that goes in a pickup truck bed -- VERY tough. And I'll take a metal grill over cloth/vynil any day. The metal grill was one selling point for me on my little Markbass, even though I hate their lint-grabbing carpet.
A third reason I like Legacy is the 120v-240v power so I don't have to worry about overseas compatibility. Really good calls by GK, IMO.
I actually treat my gear very delicately, but I really like the piece of mind the stronger materials provide with the Legacy combos. Excellent choices from GK.
...hence my suggestion for a Legacy 110! ...with a tough exterior and a metal grill (GK are you listening?)
