GK Legacy Combos

Had a nice reception gig tonight - finally got to use the extension 12 cab. The venue was a big modernized barn (with AC thank goodness as it hit 90 today).

I had the amp contour switch on with some very subtle EQ. Sounded good the first set but kinda got lost in the second set as the crowd got more loose. Then it dawned on me I was missing some mids so flipped contour back to flat and readjusted EQ slightly. Bam.

the room acoustics weren’t the greatest and we didn’t have a very strong vocal monitor so it sounded a little boomy where I was … but all the guests had a really great time so that’s most important.

I have a rock cover gig for a 40th birthday party next weekend so I will be rocking the 2x12 once again fo sho.

Very busy weekend and this rig killed it Friday and Saturday nights. Friday night was with a 4 piece outlaw country/variety combo outdoors on a patio. I was probably too loud, but the guys didn't seem to mind. Saturday night was indoors with a 7 piece R n B horn band. FOH guy asked me to turn down. He was about 40 feet from the stage, so I got a pretty good idea that this 212 combo really projects a good distance into the venue. I was still able to hear myself pretty well after dropping the volume. This bad boy is really loud and it's barely on!

How did it handle the B string?

Here’s the reverse mullet shot “business in the back”. Had an outdoor party last night with sound provided. Got to really open up the rig and create some serious thump. Still very satisfied with the purchase and looking forward to many years of hitting new lows.

However, it was drizzling all day and then completely let loose just in time for the last set and load out. Hey @rag …. any immediate plans to release a cover for these amps? I would love a stylish GK cover for the combo but if not in the works I’m going to order a LeCover or something ASAP.

I have the legacy 15 800 wat combo and I am interested in the extension cab. Are they out yet and if so, where are they for sale?

Thx
This cabinet series is in production but are mostly sold out. Sweetwater has the oldest backorders so they will receive them first. The Neo15-IV is about 5 weeks out.

RAG, since everyone is throwing questions out to you which seem to be hit and miss on which ones get answered here's my roll of the dice. Is there a revamp of the MB200 amp head or a new 200 watt amp in the works? I'd love to see such a head with a chorus switch built into it, I used to have an 80's GK 150 combo I believe the model number was that had the sweetest chorus I've ever heard. I have chorus pedals today that still can't match that old thing. I'd swap up that little amp in a heartbeat!

Those products (replacements for the MB200 and MB150S) are scheduled for late next year.

Uh oh - playing my semi regular pub hit - at the end of the evening I inadvertently turned off the power strip which had my 112 combo and a coupla pedals - and man it was an Earth shattering Kaboom! Ok that’s a bit of an exaggeration but it was an extremely loud pop that definitely drew everyone’s attention. Normally I go to standby then power down on the back of the amp but I guess in haste I flipped the wrong switch. It’s raining this AM so just waiting to bring the amp in, apologize to it profusely, say a little prayer, and give it a test run. Wish me luck. Blessings and Reassurances welcome.

My band is getting ready for a couple outdoor gigs, and I just moved a bass to free up some funds for a cabinet. I’m wanting a little more booty to go with my Legacy 210, is there any reason not to get the 115? We play ‘dad rock’ - Dead and other jammy covers. This 210 is sweet, but I’m really excited to hear what it can do with another cabinet!

@rag any idea when sweetwater will be getting these? They said hopefully early august. I’m hoping so too! Have a 115 preordered.

Early to mid August is still a good date.

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere, but I can't find it - in regards to the trim knob on my combo, am I missing out on anything if my bass doesn't drive the input to the level described in the manual? Both the manual and here on TB I've read that the ideal setting is to play until the clip light comes on, then back off slightly.

I'm not even close. Trim knob gained 100%. Pickups, (Nordstrand Big Singles in passive,) set to the recommended height.
