I noticed the Gallien Krueger website got a little product update.

I love my NEO212 (version I) and have been patiently waiting for the redesigned ones. Looks like less weight on the NEO212 II. And will be available in 4 or 8 ohm versions. The NEO 4x10 says 68 lbs. If that is correct I may have to consider one. I've played 'em at GC but the weight was 78 lbs and only came in 8 ohms. They're now offered in 4 or 8 ohm versions. I guess a call to RMC is in my future. :smug:

Yes, these are great. The weights are competitive with the boutique guys, they look nice, and they have all the sizes and ohms covered. I've never heard a GK neo cabinet. I wish someone would make a 2x12 stack like Genz does. I like having the amp head up higher like that, plus it takes up less of that precious stage real estate on the width.

Either way, I might try that 1x12 at 30 lbs.

Just looking for some input here -

I can get two gk neo212 version 1's (8 ohm) that are mint in a local deal for under $600 for the pair.

I'm changing over from a hartke 410xl and 115xl. I have plenty of power to drive them. I play anything from acoustic duo accompaniment to rock/r&b on a 5 string. Looking for more portability and warmer sound. More spl would be nice.

I have also been considering aguilar and avatar neo 212 cabs but would probably need to buy them new since none are available used near me.

Are the GK's a no brainer at that cost?

Quality and cost are my biggest concerns. Then SPL, then weight.

It would be good to avoid a 4x10 since I have that now and don't care for it. The idea of being able to use either a single 212 or both is of interest. Most of my gigs are in small places these days, but without PA support.

The avatar neo 212's are $430 each shipped. The gk's down the street are mint and $600 for the pair. And will be 3db louder than the Hartke 410xl based on the specs. I'll give them a try at least.

Wow, 30 lbs for the 1x12. That looks pretty good for me. I notice they're using poplar plywood rather than birch to help reduce weight. Poplar is plenty strong if well braced.

As soon as one arrives in Canada I want to try it out.

Have you played through them? Personally, using either a 700RB or 1001RB I like the GK match, especially with a Musicman. I don't play a 5er but have heard people comment the NEO212 handles the B well. To get a pair of "like new" for $600 to me, a no brainer. I suggest you play through them first if possible. FWIW, I bought mine, sight unseen, new for a few dollars less than you can get that pair for. Couldn't be happier. :)

Arrrggh..

got a Neo 115-II in the end of the last year.
Now I wish I had waited some time.. :bawl:
The III version is >20lbs lighter - just what I was looking for!

@Robert:
What's the difference between Version II & III? Only the enclosure?
I guess you won't offer an enclosure tradeoff either way ... :ninja:
