What he's referring to is the common reference, e.g. talking points, on certain AM radio talk shows to the worry over global cooling in the 1970s to discredit today's science over global warming.
It's been shown multiple times on this thread that the referenced "cooling theory" had no particular scientific basis.
And when I note the biggest opponents of "global warming" tend to be the biggest offenders I feel free to have my sig.

I do not see how you could interpret that from his post, Al Gore was not an opponent of climate change theory. It is my opinion that you are attempting to sow discord and strife.

Trust me. It goes way beyond this. The same folks calling for a massive increase in living standards for many who can't afford it are the ones allegedly opposing global warming here.
The fact is providing everyone with a large screen TV, a large house and many other lux life style accouterments is a driving force behind the global warming effect.
And there are many other factors that aren't suitable for this site.
But they are there and they are real.
