What he's referring to is the common reference, e.g. talking points, on certain AM radio talk shows to the worry over global cooling in the 1970s to discredit today's science over global warming.

It's been shown multiple times on this thread that the referenced "cooling theory" had no particular scientific basis.

I hope you'll excuse me. I don't listen to any talk radio, Not even NPR.

It tends to be LCD stuff mixed with polemics. From what I gather from the people that do listen I feel it's designed to create discord rather than results.

But that being said the fact that "cooling theory " has no basis in fact does call into question any populist theory.

And when I note the biggest opponents of "global warming" tend to be the biggest offenders I feel free to have my sig.

I believe he was illustrating the hypocrisy of many climate-change activists.

It's a point worth noting that those calling for change are often not willing to make those changes themselves. For example, Al Gore wasn't necessarily wrong in his message, but he discredits himself with his high-carbon lifestyle.

I do not see how you could interpret that from his post, Al Gore was not an opponent of climate change theory. It is my opinion that you are attempting to sow discord and strife.

I believe what you're misreading from our friend is that he's calling those who oppose the climate change theories as contributing to the problem.

From my reading, he was calling those opposed to climate change itself as those who were making significant contributions to the problem.

It will be one of those two things and I'm trying to clarify that.

Where did I imply that Al Gore was an opponent of climate change theory?

Trust me. It goes way beyond this. The same folks calling for a massive increase in living standards for many who can't afford it are the ones allegedly opposing global warming here.

The fact is providing everyone with a large screen TV, a large house and many other lux life style accouterments is a driving force behind the global warming effect.

And there are many other factors that aren't suitable for this site.

But they are there and they are real.

I may be wrong, but I don't think increasing living standards is limited to big screen television ownership. I assume access to healthcare, education, economic mobility and security are what they're looking to offer, although some may use their newfound health, education, and economic mobility and security to purchase televisions among other consumer goods.
