Gluing pedals onto board?

Dual Lock is also the choice when attaching FastToll transponders....works great for pedals, too. To remove the device, simply put your fingertips under the leading edge and give a sharp yank.

I found this out by accident: If you want something more permanent, attach Dual Lock to the bottom or the device and conventional black velcro (fuzzy / loop portion) to the pedal board. Position and press into place. That sucker ain't coming off any time soon.

I got some longer screws for the bottom of the pedals and a few zip ties and did this...

I use a similar method with the pieces of a bicycle chain. It does requires a ten dollar chain breaker tool from the hardware store. Works great for anchoring a wandering wah or expression pedal too.

I finally found a use for my old bike!

That’s a screw through the outer link and link roller of the chain. Fits most pedals.

I went back to Velcro because Dual Lock was TOO "sticky", LOL! I would have to get a screwdriver to pry stuff off if I needed to fix/change/move something.

If you want your pedals to not move, Dual Lock is a pretty good option.

I feel the same. Dual lock is def the way to go if you are going to put your pedals on a board and not move them at all if rarely. But if you plan to do some swapping out regularly or are a revamper a few times a year like I am, dual lock is a nightmare. It is WAY too hard to get those suckers off.

I've used regular velcro for years and it works great for me. I built my own board so I've done some experimenting with different carpets on the board. Last year I went to Menards and I bought a few feet of that carpet you can buy for say your back patio or pool area. It's kinda patterned too so it's got a cool look to it. I matted my board with that stuff and man does velcro stick to that stuff hard. No dual lock hard. But very solidly. So sometimes it's not about the velcro but about the carpet you use to matte the actual board with.

I gave up on velcro type material long ago...it just didn't hold up and lost it's adhesion after a while. Since then I've been using a loop of gaffer tape under my pedals. At least when it wears out it's quick and easy to replace, even during set up at a gig. Works fine for me. YMMV

Gluing pedals down is kinda like gluing legos together...it takes away one of the main benefits which is that they can be swapped out and it is a modular setup. What happens if you want to change the chain of your pedals or a cable goes bad...if glued down, it could be a nightmare to correct or may require you to damage things to get the access you need.

I've found great success with super heavy duty velcro. It is not dual lock, but the kind of velcro you get at the hardware store that's rated to hold tools on a wall or significant weight (should be able to hold your pedal weight plus a bunch more lbs). Being that this is velcro it makes the pedals removable, but being that it is heavy duty it isn't easily popped off the board (I have had to use a tool as a lever to get a pedal unhooked from it's velcro'ed position before). Sort of the best of both worlds.

Would advise against glue though - if you are gung ho that you love your setup fully, then why not look into getting it all housed in a single box? That's more permanent and probably a better way to handle your use case.

To ease removal, the pedal board gets a bigger piece, perhaps 1 x 1. Or maybe longer to give you a range of placement options. The pedals then get a piece 1 x 1/2.

Using a quarter or something like that to pry up helps in removal.

Make sure to read the directions. One of the brands requires a 24 hour waiting period before you try to pry them apart, this is for each strip to allow the strips backing adhesive to fully cure onto it’s bonding surface.

Use 3M Dual Lock. Does not wiggle or wobble like Velcro.

The mating sections you place on the pedal and the board are rigid, not cloth-like as Velcro.

3M Dual Lock is awesome stuff. It's like the Schwartzeneger of velcro. It's actually made with small plastic knobs that interlock, and you may need to slide a screwdriver between the pedal and board to get the pedal off. There will be no wobble. Once you use that to fasten something in place, it's staying. I've mounted flat-base microphones on classroom desks with it and never had one come off unless we pried it off.

However, I go with long 1/4" wide cable ties because they're easy to cut and replace if I need to remove a pedal or re-organize the board.

That Dual Lock stuff looks interesting. Never heard of that before.

My main problem with Velcro is not that it won't hold the pedals in place - it's that somehow they lose their adhesion to the underside of the pedal, leaving a gunky residue. Mostly on pedals that have no flat metal surface but some sort of rubber material underneath.
