New Balance claims "MIUSA" even if 30% of their product's "domestic value" is imported (i.e. soles). If > 30% of it is imported, they claim "MIUSA of imported materials (thanks to the FTC).can't speak for electronics, but new balance still makes some of their shoes in the USA- the only shoe company to do so iirc.

We can only hope that they'll be in a better position to implement the technology dependent pollution control measures that the Western world routinely employs as their own technology improves with their standard of living. Of course it won't be able to do that if the rest of the world stops buying goods from China, in which case there will be 1.6 billion people living in 3rd world conditions with no choice but to use energy as inefficiently as possible with no pollution controls at all.
