you'd be surprised how much stuff gets "gone" from vehicles around the NC State campus. my girlfriend is pre-vet up there and i visit her a couple weekends every month. whenever i spend time up there, ANYTHING valuable in my car goes in a plastic bag and sits in her room while my car's in the parking lot.

sadly, Rocky Mount isn't much better :/ thank God i'm out in the sticks...

we had a security system installed 2 nights ago, which totally sucks: all the beeping. it's a pain, but necessary. also got a little safe for my pistol so next time, at least they will have to work a little to get at it.

have you all taken pictures of your basses, including identifying features such as SERIAL NUMBERS!?! off you go.

Congrats on getting the bass back! That's awesome!!! :)

Also, thank god it looks like you got the gun back as well. I would be more worried about that flying around underground. God forbid someone actually uses it, it's you're name on the ballistics... :hmm:

Unless they file the serial number to be able to sell it, then likely all ballistic evidence and registration is gone. I watch to many CSI like shows me thinks. Cheers.

Stealing a gun on a B&E is akin to stealing a boat from a professional fisherman or a taxi from a cabbie. The thief simply went too far.:spit:

If you happen upon him sleeping on a park bench with pistol and bass, I couldn't in good TB conscience counsel you to pistol-whip him and rent him out to the local gay homeless community for fun and hijinx-but it made for a nice sentence!

Congrats on getting your things back, especially the bass. I can't imagine getting a bass stolen.

Concerning the retribution that some seem to want, I imagine you people have never done dumb things as teenagers. I certainly have, things about as stupid as these kids have done and certainly as illegal. So I am not so quick as to judge that they have done this freely, that they had other good options and that "food is readily available everywhere".

Having had experience with the "rehabilitation system" of prisons etc, I can tell you that nothing positive happens in those places and that the fantasy that sending people there will somehow help them grow to be responsible adults is something only someone with no experience in the matter can say. Or someone trying to get elected.

Here's hoping these kids straighten out for their own good and ours too.

Nice to hear you got your stuff back, Krust. And that the perps were caught. You are a fellow with good karma - good things to those who do good.

And that's a good idea - name/addy in the control panel. Will have to do that this weekend.

My 5-string is photo'd, but not my 4 - something to do this weekend.

krustwell, you're a cool dude, no wonder you have that cool SB-2, glad it's back. Right on to the 2nd chance idea. Don't know what drives that kind of behavior, I was a kid and did some dumb things, but I always knew where to draw the line. Hope this is their eye-opener.

you're not alone: the CCBI guy who dusted for prints said that, thanks to shows like CSI, kids know how to break in and not get caught! i.e., they all wear gloves. ironically, i don't think these kids were wearing gloves, since they got a good print off the window. and, they got caught. guess they don't have cable!

and yes, i wish no violence to befall these guys. they got caught and will pay whatever penalty the system deems adequate. but feel free to close the thread at any time. i've said all i have to say, except one thing:

thank you, Lord! i believe God has much more important things to worry about than whether i get my stuff back or not, but at the same time i believe He does care. and all through this ordeal, i've been relatively calm, for which i am very thankful. it's bad enough getting robbed, but then to harbor a bunch of anger about it, there's just no good to come of that.
