Good head, bad cabs = ?

the short answer: No.

mesa, ampeg, sadowsky, whatever your poison, you can make it sound like crap by putting it under a behr or a cheap cab.

Unless you're planning on upgrading ASAP, and don't mind losing just about every cent in resale value, don't get a behr.

Although, you might be able to find one for about $10 on CL (i found a full behr stack for $150 the other day)

honestly this amp will probably sound awesome with any cab - you may get a better sound with a high-end cab but still - if you dont have any cab right now fine buy a GK backline but if you do save money a little more to get a better cab

I purchased the LM2 a few months ago along with the 102p traveller 2x10. I pair this with a GK goldline 2x10 and I think it sounds great. I also have a 4x10 Backline at our practice space and I think the LM2 brings out the best in this lower end cabinet. Granted, it doesn't match some of the higher end cabs but it's still decent.

Do you have a chance to hear those cabs? Without that opportunity, I'd be wary of buying them. That link provides no specs on the drivers, weight, etc., and without that info, who knows what they will really sound like?

You posted above you've got $500 total for the LMII and a cab. You must be getting a screaming deal on the head to have any dough at all left over to get a cab. More power to you!

Check classifieds - there's a MAG 115 on sale, shipped from NY state I believe, for $125. Add a top to it down the line.

I've heard the cabs, and they're punchy and bright. I believe they're about 300w, or so i am told. They are pretty heavy.

I believe the Markbass 250w head is $450. If it's more, then i'll look for a cost alternative, though i'm pretty sure there is no alternative to Markbass.
