Well guys. Im embarassed to say this may have been a way easier fix than I thought. Just for the heck of it, I plugged in my cheapy $13 Skull Candy ear buds. Distortion went away. Even on the lowest notes. Obviously, the Skull Candy ear buds dont have the sound quality the MDR7506 had but it is useable now.
Having said that, in the small amount of time I've been playing with the buds, I really think this may be the way I need to go. The MDR7506s are nice (when they aren't distorting) but I noticed that even with the cheap ear buds, I didnt need them to be as loud to get the detail I wanted.
May I should just look at a really nice pair of comfortable ear buds for what I need.
