Good rig for GK?

I ran my 400rb thru a single hartke 15" aluminum cone and it flat out sucked. I went back to sam ash that same day and got a hartke 2x15 cab instead. It worked out a lot better.

Edit: I was also using a stock MIM Jazz at the time

I used the 400RB for many years and the key is to get a good, efficient speaker cabinet if you're going to use a single cabinet, particularly if it's an 8 ohm one. I don't know about the SBX cabinets. I'd try it out before I bought it. It may not give you enough clean bottom that one of their higher end cabs would. I used a pair of Yorkville Sound 1x15 cabs and could get away with a single cab for small rooms. The Yorkville's are fairly efficient and have a decent, but not prominent bottom end. Alot will depend on what sort of on stage sound you use. If you want fat, pillowy bass you may want a different speaker. Something with a large enough cabinet to be able to put out more clean bass. The RB series of cabinets are better of course but more expensive. The 2x12 Neo would be nice too. Or the Neo 1x15. At my age I really like light.

The 400RB is a real winner. But, as with any lower powered amp you need to match it with a good cabinet.

I never did like the Hartke 1x15 cabinet but it's not representative of all 1x15s.

Thanks, yeah im lookin for a flea/duff sounds...if thats possible i dunno, i wanna be able to hit any type of sound i guess, sumthin thats ok for both low bassy cleans and duff/like distortion, u no wut im talkin about.
