I have 2 heavy basses and found that the Planet Waves Polypropelyne Strap for Bass is a nice padded strap for the price. When I bought the ATK it came with a 2 inches guitar strap, and I remember how my shoulder started to hurt after playing 15 minutes, and this Planetwaves was a solution.
I really like the Sadowsky strap I bought recently. It's padded and does not slip, most comfortable strap I have ever used!

I have a comfort strapp and a 3" leather ZON strap. Both are really nice, actually the ZON is more comfortable than the comfort strapp, go figure.
But....... I got a chance to check out Link Removed at NAMM and wow was it sweet. Tempurpedic strap! genius!

I have to echo the Comfort Strapp sentiments. I have them on 5 basses plus one on a Tele Deluxe. Very "comfort"able... 
that sounds like an amazing idea and it looks really comfortable but... 65 Euro for a strap!? It barely has enough material to make a decent belt yet it costs so much!
I'm hooked on these babys. No frills just a four inch leather strap. Soon as I get a new bass, I pick one up to permanently pair to that bass.

There are a lot of god straps listed here already, and I'd really like to check out a comfort strap, but I am so darn happy with both my Brooklyn Gear straps! I have a guitar strap and a bass strap from them. The Guitar strap is just a bit narrower than the bass strap. But both are very nice and obviously, the wider of the two is the better of the two, at least for me....
I've got two recommendations... first up is a padded 3" wide Franklin strap. Mine's made from leather with a suede backing. This was purchased for a shortscale guild bass of mine which is extremely prone to neck dive. The width and padding helped reduce the shoulder strain of the neck dive (even though the bass is just under 7 lbs), and the suede backing grips your shirt in such a way that further helps combat the neck dive. Got it at guitar center for $40 or $45, can't recall.
For awhile i was using this strap with my much heavier Peavey T-40's and it is certainly adequate in the padding and comfort department. But i realized that when i use a "grippy" strap I wind up sacrificing a certain amount of freedom when I play. With this in mind I sought out a wide strap that could slide freely along my shoulder, so i have a much wider range of movement when on stage. ultimately i settled on a Souldier 3" wide custom strap. It's basically just a wide seat belt with some vintage fabric sewn to it for embellishment. They're not padded, but i don't even miss the padding, even with my 11-12 lb T-40's, and being able to move freely again while i play is a fantastic feeling. They sell plain unadorned straps for $18 or you can spend up to $60 on vintage fabric. Mine was $30 plus shipping. take a look www.souldier.us I'm very happy with mine and plan to order a narrower strap for guitar sometime in the future.

I've been all about Comfort Strapps for years. I own two as well, as I only have two basses, and they're the best I've ever tried. They have an amount of stretchy give when you pull on them so they don't cut into your neck when your pulling on your bass against them-- some players get annoyed by this factor, but I personally love it. Love 'em!
I use Comfort Strapps too, they're great!

I have had both the NeoTech and the Comfort Strapp. I am in the minority that prefers the Neotech!
I guess I am also in the minority here in that I like the Comfort Strap from Levy's better than the Comfort Strapp that is so highly rated here. The Strapp is almost too "springy" for me.
I still use my old Planet Waves 19 dollar strap as well. Very light but wide.

I guess it could use some padding but it really works fine for my Fender's.
But the Levy's is the number one for me at the moment.
+1 on the Comfort Strapp. I started using them about 4 months ago - what a difference! I love them.
Only slightly springy (I don't even notice it any more) and the padding/weight distribution is excellent. I can't see myself using any other straps.

Comfort Strapp. What a difference it made when playing my heavier 6 string bass. The stretchiness and good padding work extremely well.
