Yep, he was the reason I took up the bass in high school(1976). I am the proud owner of a Steinberger bass of his, got it from his widow. It's the bass used on the "Too Low For Zero" album, and the hit "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues".

Excellent reason to start playing bass. I graduated in 1976, and Dee is my main fav. He always will be.
Do you know what strings he used? Mainly on his Jazz and P basses? I can't find that anywhere. The sound like TIJF's

My main bass now. Converted it to a 6 from a 5, by making new nut, adding a bridge, and drilling extra hole in the headstock. Added some of the best bartolini preamp and pickups and made custom ramp with thumb pinky rest for fast B string playing.
