Man I could KILL for one like that...just to know, why a pick-up replacement on such an old bass?
 
What's with the pickguard continuing down to the control plate and having it and the knobs be plastic? That confuses me.

That's the same style as my '95 MIM Jazz Std. before I replaced the pickguard, pickups and electronics. Mine is red (Dakota?) which is not my favorite color so I'm thinking about a refin in an aged white with tort pickguard.

I payed $120 for it in mint condition, installed Model J's, white pearloid pg and new electronics with series/paralell switching.
This cheapo is one of the best playing basses I have ever laid my hands on as well as being very light (basswood?) Wish I could find another just like it!
