I believe that's an early 90's late 80's MIJ model. Made a fairly brief appearance with that kind of pickguard/knob configuration.

Those Low End basses are incredible! Absolutely stunning! If that first one had gold hardware it would have owned this thread, but my favourite from the lot is that frosted mahogany bass!

Here is a old pic of a White MIJ Fender. I think this photo was from 1989 when I was on the road. That was my main gig bass for quite a while. Sold it after I got my Alembic to someone in Wyoming!

What's with the pickguard continuing down to the control plate and having it and the knobs be plastic? That confuses me.

That's the same style as my '95 MIM Jazz Std. before I replaced the pickguard, pickups and electronics. Mine is red (Dakota?) which is not my favorite color so I'm thinking about a refin in an aged white with tort pickguard.

I payed $120 for it in mint condition, installed Model J's, white pearloid pg and new electronics with series/paralell switching.
This cheapo is one of the best playing basses I have ever laid my hands on as well as being very light (basswood?) Wish I could find another just like it!

According to the site I purchased the bass from, the white is called Arctic White.
