Got my GK MB Fusion today!!!!

Got in a pinch last night and picked one of these up spur of the moment. This is the first of the 3 class D heads that I have owned that has actually done it for me. The tone from this thing is thick. I've owned a SD800 and the WTX500 and they both were missing something, I assumed it was just the tone of light weight heads. This head sounds like a 25 Lbs lead sled. not missing a thing.

Honestly it sounds very similar to my Mesa M9. The dirt sounds really good, but I'll probably never use it. Compared to my WTX 500, The GK kills it volume wise

If it has top end sheen like the M9, this is really great news, to me.

2 ohms would be nice; but, not many micro heads do this.
I can understand why; a lot of folks want a microhead as part of a micro load, not a 2 cabinet deal.

Man I have been saying the MB2 without the preamp tube is the closest sound to the M6 that I could out of any micro. Can't wait unitl I can try one of these out.

Hmm, I hadn't really considered it but I would say the MB500 is pretty similar tonally to the M6. The M6 has a little less bass innately I think and a little more low mids. I like the Mb500 with 2 clicks off of high mids and bass and one click of low mid added.

Sorry been working a playing all weekend and haven't had a chance to chime in. As I said in a earlier post it reminds me of my M9. The sizzle of the m9 is something I tend to dial out a bit when setting up, I would say the GK doesn't have quite as much set flat but it can be dialed in.

At practice I played through an avatar 4x10 w/ ceramics with my SR5. This little head is even quicker then the M9 which is hard to believe. The lows are tight and very defined. I'm not a tube guy, but while screwing around with the gain it got very warm, really pushed it was in SVT territory but with out as much bloom.

At my show later I was using a mesa PH4x12. The way these 2 matched up was amazing. I was playing in a Dub/Ska/Punk band that night and this sucker really shined out more then I expected. The deep switch on the head is very usable and just adds the right amount of feel to the bass.I didn't screw with the presence or contour knobs. I ran the mids and bass boosted around 1 the bass a little past noon and the treble around 11. Held up through the night perfectly, the clarity of the head was unreal.

This is going to be my main gun for a while, and its not just the honeymoon phase. I bought it last minute to get out of a jam and it went beyond my expectations. This is the 3rd class D head i've owned and it has all the meat and feel I look for in a head, that previous class d's weren't doing for me.

Well, I have a second hand report. My friend (a local pro and also really good repair guy) borrowed my MB2-500 for a weekend gig (he loves it and is just waiting for me to sell it to him). Anyway, he swung by the store here that got them in and brought my MB to compare side by side. He said that at the end of the day, he thought they were really really close. He said that the extra switches do give you a few more options obviously and that the fusion may have had just a bit more low end set at 0. However, he said he felt the difference was not major. The only thing he really found significantly different is the whole overdrive portion of hte boost channel. He actually uses the boost channel on teh MB2500 and really likes the little bit of grind he gets out of it through his Ampeg's with Jazz Bass. He said the fusion is definitely a little different in flavor there (not better or worse, just depends what you are going for).
He knows that I am looking for a head with a warmer tube sound to go with the GK Neo112's I bought (think Sadowsky SA200 and Aguilar DB359 type tone as an ideal but without the weight of course) and didn't think this head would give me a considerable change in that direction.
So it is back to the drawing board a little for me. I am going to go give it a try of course, but he knows my tone and playing better than anyone. He listened to a recent recording and noted I'd changed my right hand positiong (which I had).
However, this is no slight against the head. He said it sounded fantastic, just very similar to the MB2500 with the exception of getting that tube od going.
