wow this little thing has 3 12AX7's!?!?!
are these the small 12AX7's I keep hearing about?
I'm really intrigued by this one...Vic really liked the full size Fusion 550, and if this 'un sounds like that 'un...well...that's all good!
I had an original MB and thought it sounded to thin and solid state.
I got a MB fusion today and A/B with my GK micro bass on top of my GK Neo 1x12" with my Juzek upright.
Although the controls have similar features and the GK transparent, clear sound is still present the MB Fusion tone is fuller.
for upright the cab sounds better with the tweeter turned off.
Then i plugged in my Fender MM5 and Fclef 5.
the MB fusion sounds great, I had to remember to turn up tweeter on the Neo 1x12" to get the G string to snap.
I really like the voicing filters on top of the amp.
this amp sounds great and looks great .... now let's pray it is reliable
good with upright eh?
---more intrigued---
Will the MB fusion work well with a Epifani PS 410 at moderate to loud volumes, without sounding like it's straining? I have a older 800rb, and it is great, I love it when I'm doing Smooth Jazz, but it doesn't have that fat sound when doing R&B/Funk. I have been in the market for a head to match with the Epi. The LM III, and GB Shuttle 6.0 have been what I've been reading about, but the MB Fusion is what I've had my eye on. This is the first thread that I have come across that anyone is speaking about it.
I compared the MB fusion w/ 1x12" Neo extension to:
microbass w/ext ...... both cabs firing
microbass head w/ext... no internal cab on
hands down the MB fusion w/ 1x12" Neo was the best sound.
my fully carved Juzek has a David Gage Realist pickup
Last night I ran it with a Mesa Boogie PH1000 (1X15 + 4X10"s), and my 75RI Jazz with NJ4 pickups. This weekend I will run her with an SWR 8X8 and probably my 73 Jazz and my Warwick Thumb. I know they only shipped out a small batch, but BassNW was supposed to get 2 I think. It has two channels with sepparate volumes and gains for each so you can overdrive one of the chanels and leave one for clean. It is one pound heavier than my MB2 at 4.5 LBS.
I will try to get a pic or two snapped in the next couple days.
77Jazz
Just ordered one myself! Well, it's going to go head to head (get it?) against my GK 1001RB. It will be interesting to see which one comes out on top, and which one will get sent back.
I will report next week with my findings.
