Got my GK MB Fusion today!!!!

No. They add a bit of tubey roundness and maybe a little extra growl to the tone, especially since the EQ, not just the pre-gain, is based on tubes, but it's still very much a GK sound, and IMHO, a good one.

Holy crap this thing KILLS! My guitarist was floored by it's tone. I barely had time to really push it and see what it could do in a hectic 2 hour rehearsal but man in that time span it was impressive. Huge fat sound out of just my TC RS212. I can't wait to see what it can really do.

Six days since the last post on this amp. I was hoping this was going to be a killer amp with much love and praise but I'm not seeing it. It was a long time coming and highly anticipated but now that it 's out there doesn't seem to be much interest in it. What gives?

I spent some time comparing my MB Fusion to my MB500 the other day, and one of the things I was specifically looking for was how much clean headroom I could get out of each. I have to say, I was somewhat surprised to find that I was able to get the MB Fusion to get just as "loud and clean" as the MB500, if not a tad bit more clear. The added harmonic content with the MB Fusion adds some nice "air" and "life" to the high end, and if you don't drive the input too hard, you can definitely keep it out of anything approaching and obvious overdrive, but still push the amp pretty hard. I had expected that I would have to deal with a certain amount of preamp overdrive to get full volume, but I really didn't. Now, if you want it, it's certainly there, but it's nice to know that you can stay clean, clear, and tight and still get all the volume you'd want.

that's great news, as far as i'm concerned...
and one of the things i'd change about the walkabout, if i could.
(which is why i keep asking for a 6-900 watt walkabout, then it wouldn't be as much of an issue!)

What were your settings? I used Vic's Fusion today and used it pretty flat on the EQ section but since I was just using my Berg AE210, I did use teh dep switch and I turned the contour up to about 10:00 oclock. I was using my Nordy with a Reverse PJ so it still had alot of mid content. I really dug it.

EQ flat, limiter off, deep off, presence off, contour off, Gain at or under 50%.

I again I was blown away at this little amp. It's huge! I chuckled to myself when my guitarist had to turn up to fit in the mix with the rest of us.

The ability to do clean and overdriven really well was a key selling point for me when I was testing out amps at BassNW. I was all set to get a TC RH450 to go with my cabs. Been planning it for months. When I finally had the cash and it came down to it I the MB Fusion won out for me in big way. This is just m personal preference. I am in no way slighting the RH45o which I still beleive to be a stellar amp.

That is some good info there. I found the top end of the MB500 a bit much... super sizzly and harsh. If the MBFusion can stay equally clean, but with a touch more organic character to the top end, that will be a very nice unit for many! I assume they have fixed the noise issue also, since the MB500's I tried were very, very hissy (I assume due to that super goosed top end).

They must have, because I remember the last time you posted up on that I went down to listen to the Fusion I recently got and it seems especially quiet to me. At least it's quieter than my other similarly sized amps.
