I've got someone willing to trade me his used SRX505 for my new-ish SR370M, which I'm trying to sell for $300.... I just might do it. What ya'll think?

Only thing is...I probably won't use it much. My band plays in drop-c tuning...soooo... not sure how low the b-string can actually go...

The 505 has one blemish, in the cut out by the neck...

The bridge pickup on my SRX 650 has developed a hissy / scratchy / distortion recently and I am at a loss. Anyone else had this happen to them? I hooked the pickup directly up to 2 different output jacks and is still noisy. I checked the pickup wires and even re-cut and soldered the connections. Checked the wire at the base of the pickup and no noticeable issues. Moved the wire around while it was plugged into the amp to test for loose connection noise and nothing. Dead pickup? Anyone have a spare PFR-AL4B pickup sitting around? If not I will toss one of the lower end pfr pickups in for now.

I was just browsing some web shops, and then I came across this thing. Do you guys know anything about it, is it any good? [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

It looks like it is only available in Europe, because it is not listed on the American/Japanese website. It costs around €450. ($584)

It is also not on the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] but thomann.de says it's available since January 2013.

Corporal Clegg, that particular model is new this year and available only in Europe as far as I can tell. The pups, electronics, and bridge are all standard SRX stuff(which is a good thing). It's got an ash body which is also a good thing. The styling is more retro than most SRX(which I think is cool, you may or may not). I'm sure it's as good as any of the SRXs mentioned in this thread. I've had # SRXs and they were either good(SRX300) or great (SRX400 and SRX690). I'd like to have one of those 530s but they aren't availaible here in the States.

To any of you SRX experts out there. Living in South Africa, we don’t get all of the basses available elsewhere, or the opportunity to try and compare entire model ranges. The instruments that are on sale here seem to be picked at random, or at best, on the whim of… well….not a bass player.

I have had a couple of younger players ask me if the lower priced, bolt on neck models have the same PUP’s and pre-amp. I know only one other player with an SRX and that is a 700. Also a through neck bass towards the high end of the range. As far as we can tell the only difference is mine (750) has the bublinga tops. Can anyone tell me where I can find specs by model no’s.

I have found that the output signal of both the 750 & my friends 700 to be strong to say the least. Not an issue to me, as I have so much other stuff in my signal chain. But I have had some live “sound guys “(note, not” sound engineers”) struggle with it overdriving desks. This only happens when they insist on a DI from the bass as opposed to taking signal from the DI out on my head (Genz GBE 750) as I advise. Anyone else had issues with this?

Bridge tarnishing and discoloration. I have a feeling that the plating on the bridge is intended to “distress with use”. If so, it’s kak (South African expletive) idea. To me it just makes the bass look dirty. Is the offending metal plating / coating something that can be polished off to the chrome, or am I stuck with it?
thanks in advance for any input you can give

The SRX700 and above pickups have Alnico magnets while all the others have ceramic magnets, otherwise the electronics are the same on all models. I've had 3 SRXs and they have all had the ceramic magnets so I can't tell you what difference that makes. The SRX400 I had had the "cosmo black" plated hardware and it did tarnish easily which I thought looked ok but I can see how others may not like it. Unfortunately I think you are stuck with it.
