Got SRX?

Okay, I'll give them a shot. The worst that can happen is I'm stuck with a tone I don't really like for a couple months.

YouTube - Maniac Mansion intro music - remix by Grospixels (listen in 480p, it sounds better)

This is my video game cover band, Grospixels, playing the main theme from Maniac Mansion, in a funk/rock style. I posted it in the Ibanez Club thread a couple weeks ago, to pretty much no reaction.

The bass tone is my SRX into a VT Bass (with a little extra added warmth from a Little Mark Tube head). Neck pickup soloed with some slight bass and treble boost (maybe a bit too much bass boost, actually).

What do you think?

Agreed...that's how I ended up trying Black Beauties. I just brought em home and gave them a try.

Hey, I like the video game song covers! I think you did an excellent job paying tribute to those classics! The mix, IMO, was great as well. Good job all around...I listened to a few others too.:bassist:

that sounds great dude!

really tight band and that song/arrangement is excellent. I'd rather listen to that kinda stuff than 95% of the music out there, tbh...

Thanks a lot, guys! I'm glad you liked it. If you enjoyed that song, be sure to check the rest of our Youtube channel. I'm a pretty recent addition to the project, though, so a lot of the tracks feature synth bass, but the guitarists and keyboardist are very talented musicians. It's an honor for me to work with them.

The 4 other tracks I performed on (Area 88, Paperboy, Diggers, Secret of Evermore) were recorded with my beloved SR4005, before I replaced its preamp.

I can tell they are talented. You fit in well. I like your playing and tone. I'll be sure to check out your other stuff.

A day later than stated I would upload, but here is my SRX590 with DR Black Beauties. Number?

Just listened to all those tracks. Do you guys have a CD I could buy? ;)

Thanks a ton! ::blushes::

No, we don't have anything for sale (besides, video game remixes are in a bit of a grey area -- I suspect that attempting to sell that stuff would have us into some legal trouble or forced to pay substantial royalties). We do, however, have a website where you can download all of our tracks: Invalid Link Removed

There's about a hundred of those, recorded over a period of 8 years (yeah, the others had been at it for several years already when I first laid hands on an instrument :) ). Production is pretty bad on everything but the last two compilations, but there's some really slick guitar playing to make up for it. ;)

EDIT: Nice finish on that SRX, bass2bass!

These are the pics owed of my SRX430. Originally it came with a black PG but i got my luthier make a white one for it.

I found out that this bass is more sensitive to some frecuencies than my warwick. when I try to use it (EQ flat) with my Digitech Bass Synth Wah the Ibi tends to capture the very high frecuencies of the Wah effect and it gets anoying. The sound gets much better when I roll off a few notches both bass and treble on the bass EQ

My SRX750, bought new about 18 months ago as a back-up bass for my Jay Dee. The Jay Dee is now a back up for the SRX, In fact for 6 months or so now the SRX has been flying solo at gigs. The best gig bass I have ever played.

Cant seem to be able to upload photos at the moment for some reason, I will try again later.

Wild Cat, not sure how much the SRX weights but compared to my Warwick FNA is like a feather.
But the FNA weights a ton!!!!
Something that brought my attention with SRXs is many users put DR Black Beauties on them.
I just put a set cause I bought them on sale at half price of the Elixirs I usually use.
They are nice though

A PDF pic? That's an... Interesting choice. There definitely is an SRX within, though I find the cute guitarist lady to be more interesting :p

Setebos: Good point. Mine is maple/walnut neck-through with mahogany wings -- noticeably heavier than the wenge/bubinga neck (and drastically contoured body) of my SR4005.
