GR Bass new Super Light cabs

They will also have a 8 ohm version soon

I got the 8ohm 110 version. Now just looking for the twin (two would cover all my gigs). It sounds great and you do have to pay attention you don’t throw it, it is so light.

I akready cracked a corner dropping it on concrete. It was so light it moved around in the back of the car and fell out when I opened the door. Need to pack it in better. Glued it back. It’s not as tough or forgiving as heavy plywood so I think it needs some care.

still want another because two of these is lighter than any other single cab I have had and to my ears anyway they sound great.

The AT212 (non slim) capted my atention, I wonder how coloured/uncoloured it is and how compressed/uncompressed it is.
For you to know my references, I have a Genz Benz Shuttle 112 as a coloured and compressed cab and a Green Boy F112 as a "less colour and compression" cab.

I don't have GR Bass cab yet, but they claim being really uncolored and uncompressed. The baseline of the whole GR Bass company is "Pure Tone".

Is it always a -3dB correction to compare sensitivity based on 2.73V with sensivity for 1W? Or is there a math function to apply?
The -3dB is from the mathematical correction.

When the voltage is held constant and the impedance is halved, the current doubles and the power V x I) doubles. For a doubling of power, 10 x log (P2/P1) = 3dB

I want to see that 212 cabinet.

On paper, it weighs less than a single Barefaced Super Compact but outperforms a pair of them.
This is, indeed, hard to believe because the performance of the barefaced cabinet already is beyond of what should be possible.

OTOH, a Kappalite 3012LF weighs 3,45kg, so a pair of them would be 6,9kg, leaving 3,1kg for the cabinet.
That does not sound impossible.

I haven't heard or seen a GR Bass cab in person but I do find the technology very interesting.
Here's the info on the Slim 212 right from the GR Bass web site:

These are pretty cool cabs. Love my Modulus carbon fiber basses, can’t see how applying it to cabs would be a bad thing. They’re definitely top of the line with a top price tag. That 8x10 is a freaking monster. But honestly I’m usually going to use a little fold up hand truck to cart my amp and pedals in one trip anyway, weight isn’t a huge concern as long as it’s not a boat anchor. I wonder if there will be any conflicting sort of copyright issues because Aguilar has a Super Light SL series of cabs too.

I have been very pleased with my first generation GR Bass AT 212 Slim cabinet. I initially hooked it up with a Mesa TT-800 but found that setup to be top heavy due to the ultra light weight of the carbon fibre cab. I then bought a used Quilter BB-800 off TB and it was much more stable due to the smaller footprint and lighter weight. Together they have that open and very clear sound that everyone speaks about.

More recently I have received two custom made GR Bass AT 212 Slim combos. The amp is a One800 with 800 watts going into a modified 212 Slim cabinet. The combos have the updated GR badge and cloth grill, which helps offset the additional weight of the amp and help keep the entire unit as light as possible around 33.5lbs. All my fretless uke basses sound great with the 'Pure' switch activated, which bypasses all the tone controls. I am currently trying to find a way to slave one combo from the other, but so far no dice. Luckily I ordered the combos before the price increase. The new cost of the 212 Slim cab is getting mighty close to the price of one of the combos!

Man, slave all of those together and you'd shake the foundations, for a total weight of much less than what I weigh. Yeah I need to lose a few.

Also, I know it's a race to the bottom weight-wise, but I'd put up with a few more pounds for the sake of the better protection (and aesthetics) of the metal grill vs cloth.

Just seeing this post. How would you compare the GR cab sound to your SW 15’s?
