Grammy commentary

1. Adele sucked
I disagree; Adele tried hard to overcome technical issues, and the sound guy was fishing channels on the mixing console to find the problem. Someone screwed up but it wasn't Adele.

2. Jackson Brown stepping in on the Glen Frey tribute with the Eagles was cool.
I disagree again; The Eagles looked and sounded like they were phoning it in. I've always
been a bigger fan of Jackson Browne than the Eagles but was disappointed and surprised to
see Jackson forget the lyrics to his own song. Either he forgot the last verse or was hoping the audience would sing it for him..but it came off like he forgot. The band looked bored and Henley looked like he was pissed and didn't want to be there.

3. Stevie Wonder with Pentatonics was also cool and funny.
Stevie can do no wrong when it comes to making music.

4. Lionel Ritchie onstage was cool.
agree

5. Thought Bieber would get booed. He didn't. Yet.
Still don't understand why or how this kid became famous.

You're takes?
GaGa rocked the Bowie tribute. I thought was the best part of the entire night.
They forgot Natalie Cole. And, unless I missed it, I don't remember seeing a "memorial" video tribute
to those who have passed in the last year.

Nope, on the bridge in the picture, each string seems to be on an independent structure, like the high end Ibanez models. There's no curled up tail plate. Compare that bridge with the one from the Glenn Frey tribute. The latter one looks completely traditional. I don't think it could be the same bass, unless it got a lot of touch-ups—although there's those same oddball holes drilled below the bridge pickup that appear to come from some other bridge assembly again.

That's a bent plate stock bridge in the first picture I posted, it's camera angle/lighting/focus/resolution combined with the greenish silk ends making it look like individual saddles.

The "oddball holes" are from the original felt mutes that were supplied (installed at factory?) with early jazz basses. Look for pics of John Paul Jones' jazz (and many others) and you will see the same thing.

You must be right, and it's certainly the case in all the other photos I've found; it's just hard to convince myself. Anyhoo, here's a real closeup of that instrument from another photo. Lovely tort on that old girl.

Yeah, that "lady" Goo Goo thing was pretty awful, but it might have been better if her vocals had been audible.
There was definitely a memorial video, and Natalie Cole ended it.

"lady" goo goo was a hot mess IMHO, but the vocals channel was nearly inaudible.
Oh jeez, can this high-school-level speculation/taunt/whatever be put to rest already?

No!

Where did she come up with such a crazy nickname for herself anyway?

Keep trying, maybe someone will bite.

She's a talented lady and that nickname and her schtick, while probably obscuring her talent for a while, made her the most famous person on the planet and a millionaire many times over.

She has said in interviews that she stopped wearing hats indoors because of that really cool guy that posts on TB, and that she is too shy to come here and say so herself, but she really hopes one day to win you over and for you to become a fan of hers, as her life is still somewhat incomplete.

OK, I know I'm getting boring with this, but here's a Photoshop enlargement of the TS image with details preserved via resampling. I just can't convince myself that's any sort of a standard Fender bridge. The back end of each bridge element seems independent, not joined with a plate, and I can't see the plate extending beyond and below each element. The geometry just seems wrong.

Things are not always what they seem. It's an illusion, due to the angle, lighting, what have you. Id put large sums of money on it.

I'll leave you with this.

Browse pictures of him with his various Jazz basses, including this one.

Are there any other pictures that make you think the bridge on this or the others, is anything but a standard bent plate Fender bridge?

I think you will find the answer is no.

So with that in mind - why would this be different? Is it possible he tried another bridge on this instrument, and later reverted back to the stock bridge? Sure, anything is.

But......

Is it likely, considering every other picture of this bass AND his other basses show the stock bridge?

I think not.
