Grammy's...sucked?!

I cannot believe Stevie Wonder played with the Jonas Brothers and actually sang some of the lines of one of their tunes. Then they butchered Superstition. Why did this have to happen? :scowl:
Stevie will always be a god for what he's done. But he'll play with anybody, unfortunately.

Is there a less respected major awards show than the Grammys?
At this point, I might even rank the People's Choice Awards above them.
A Taste of Honey beating out Elvis Costello for best new artist?
Ok. Wait. I always remember the bit about Taste of Honey winning, but I never knew they beat out Elvis. I will now poke my eyes out, Angry Samoans-style.

For those unfamiliar with Taste of Honey's achievement, here it is. No, I'm not Rick-Rolling, it just feels like it.:rollno:

And yes, they go with the older band/artist whenever possible.

Usually...I would agree, but Blink 182 announced their reunion:hyper:

I know a lot of people here don't care, but they are the reason I picked up bass.

I thought that was cool too! Can't wait to hear new stuff from them- maybe they will headline a day at Coachella next year!:hyper:
As for the rest of the grammys I played along to a lot of the music when the performances were on:bassist:

Grammy awards suck, real bad. The guys selecting the nominee are nowhere knowledgeable in half of the styles they do. FFS they have one category for metal and they have really really bad nominee: Slipknot? come on, the album is horrible... (people who shouldn't be here, people who are there because they only sell more than others). I can't believe that one of the best selling musical styles (metal) ONLY has one category. Classical music has like 15. They do one hell of a ****** job, it couldn't be worse. They simply masturbate by thinking on how much money they will do with this stupid ass show. ****, just take a look at rap album of the year: LIL WAYNE??? LIL WAYNE ???? ***!!!!!!

anyway, we should not take a look at this event as the ultimate reference in good music.

All I can say is that you should at least try to put some of your musical biases aside when talking about the integrity of the awards.

I do think it is a joke to some extent, but I also like Slipknot and think their latest album is solid.

I also think Lil Wayne is decent good rapper and can deserve to get an award.

To each their own I suppose.

I dug U2, Allison Krauss and Robert Plant kicked a**, that disc alone is mixed so incredibly cool. as for the rest..... would've been a fun gig to have but not necessarily have to sit through

Back in the early 90's, I was working in a small recording studio in FL, and the owner of the studio, who had a minor hit in the 50's and because of this had a vote in the Grammys, pulled his ballot out one night and asked me who to vote for...

:rollno:

...that day, I ceased even caring that the Grammys existed. If the voting members of the outfit are that unaware of what the hell is going on, they are totally irrelevant.

Did anybody see M.I.A?
I heard they weren't sure whether she was going to perform since it was her due date and she didn't want to go into labor onstage :p

(...)

it was the one highlight of the evening.

jeezy is too old, TI is as corporate as rap gets these days, nas seems unfortunately trying every stunt in the book to be relevant again, and kanye is "kanye". lil wayne is the future of rap, and thank the good lord.

i just found it really distasteful that nas didnt get to do "swagger"... i guess the beefs are alive and well.
