Yeah, that was pretty bad. I love Stevie, and he's a legend to almost biblical proportions... And he shared a stage with them. One of the little boy toys even messed up the lyrics. It's quite sad, me thinks.

All I can say is that you should at least try to put some of your musical biases aside when talking about the integrity of the awards.

I do think it is a joke to some extent, but I also like Slipknot and think their latest album is solid.

I also think Lil Wayne is decent good rapper and can deserve to get an award.

To each their own I suppose.

Lol, taking my biases aside? You funny right? I gotta be the person who valuates the most impartiality in the world. It's not my opinion which I voiced there, it's the opinion of the WHOLE metal community. Go to any, I mean ANY, metal reviews site and check the score they gave for all of the nominee: nothing over 85. That tells a lot since there are plenty of 90+ reviews on every site. It just pisses me off and the whole community off that our favourite style is rejected from every media possible. Iron Maiden sold more copies of their last album than Rihanna or Lil Wayne, why the hell I never hear some Maiden on the radio? Because people in the media thinks metal as a sub genre of Rock, when it's a whole different world.

It's like saying blues and jazz is the same thing. Jazz is to blues what metal is to rock (and everyone who's gonna be quoting me on that, because there will be lot, please take your biases aside, gather some information about metal, and don't come up to me saying metal is all about blast beats and a guy screaming to an incoherent song. If you come and say so, you just don't get what metal is, just like a 10 year old would not get all the subtleties of jazz). I simply ask for more recognition for metal (one prize for metal, which is the equivalent of polka....) and more time and effort put when selecting nominees, not just putting a list of every best selling musical artists of the year and put them in each of their category.

according to wiki, the most recent Maiden album sold over a million copies world wide. In the U.S. alone, Lil Wayne sold a million in a week and at this time, is 2x platinum. As for Rihanna, she is also 2x platinum in the U.S. and sold many albums else where as well.

But I agree with everyone here. The Grammys are a joke anyways. It's just a night for the music industry elite to kiss its own ass. The event has about as much credibility as a trust fund baby employed as a social worker.

I guess not, but yeah, I dont expect the Grammy to recognize a great new band one meter away from them.

I can't say that I heard I Empire, but everything I heard from the album before sounded like Tom's high-pitched, punched in the throat nasal vocal doing bad covers of U2 songs.

Ahem...that aside, I feel like I would have enjoyed the Grammys a lot more had I been able to understand what was going on in the performances. Everything sounded so muddy on TV that a few of the performances were next to useless. The stripped down Alison Krauss/Robert Plant performance and the tribute to Bo Diddley were pretty good, and I didn't think T.I. + Justin Timberlake's performance of "Dead and Gone" was too bad either. I (un?)fortunately missed the Stevie Wonder/JoBros collaboration.

I enjoyed it.
There were a few areas I didn't care for, I'm not a fan of rap so FF thru it once I got the gist of the song.

I thought McCartney was good. Grohl overplayed the drums.
I liked the Keith Urban, BB King, plus U2 and Robert and Allison.
I don't care for the Jonas Brothers, but I didn't mind the collaboration with Stevie.

Taylor Swift needs singing lessons. Carrie Underwood is - stunning - and just who was the lead guitar player in her band?
Al Green is always good, I liked the Four Tops thing.

I love music, I can usually find something redeeming even in an awards show, or a kids talent show, or pick-up blues jam.. whatever.

Nah. FF didn't have the commercial success/exposure that any of the other nominees have, so they weren't nominated.

The Grammys really aren't about the little guys, it's about the big ones.
