Hey gang, we're going to get down to Grass Valley this year and I was wondering if any other TBDBers were making the trip?

It would be fun to meet the southern neighbours! ;) I'm driving down Monday, hoping to get there Wednesday evening.

Then after Grass Valley, we're off to Weiser...

Lived in Roseville for awhile, just down the road from Grass Valley, but Kauai is a fer piece
Ha! The main reason we're going is that our favourite banjo player, who lives in Hawaii, is coming over. We've played with Paul every year at Wintergrass for - ten years?

We'll hang out with Paul and his fiddle player Leslie, and then drive them up to Weiser and pick our fingers off!

Cool. I'll be over on the tent side camping and jamming with a blonde Shen. I'd be happy to introduce you to some of the Bay Area folks. We've got some great pickers who will mostly be over on the tent side.

The site has pretty good cell reception. Call or text if you want to meet up. I'll have my grill out too if you're a BBQ fan 310-903-9370

Sounds good! I plan on getting around the site as much as my knees will allow...

I've played with a few Bay Area players over the years, at Wintergrass and elsewhere. And I used to be in a band with John Reischman, who used to be a Bay Area player!

Last night I had a blast playing bass with a few of the legends of California bluegrass, and a couple of future legends, too!

Roland White, Herb Pedersen, and Leroy Mack with Bruce on the fiddle and monster Patrick Sauber on the pre-war Granada - awesome!

It was a great festival this year. @Jake deVilliers stopped by my camp to say hi and then later I saw him sing a great tune at his camp. Lots of fun and sore fingers. @Jake deVilliers
Hey Mike, you should have said something when you stopped by! Its always good to meet fellow TBDB crazies out on the road.

It was a terrific festival for me personally, as I got to play bass for 2 1/2 hours with Roland White, Herb Pedersen, Patrick Sauber, Leroy Mack, Bill Bryson and Bruce Johnson. It was just freaking amazing to sing 'Wait A Minute' with Herb, as that song was one of the reasons I was attracted to bluegrass some 40 years ago.

Pix when I find the camera! ;)
