Here's my personal recipe for healthy hair:

1500 mg Pantothenic Acid
1500 mg Biotin
1000 mg Inositol

Take all of the above daily. Benefits: 1) Your hair will become darker, but probably won't revert to its original color completely 2) it will stay in your head much better 3) it will become silky smooth. I've had hair stylists tell me that they knew women who would kill to have my hair.

In my family, hair starts turning white around age 40. My brothers are 54 and 56 and both are completely white. I'm 52 and only about 1/4 white thanks to the supplements.

I'm 39, started going grey in my late 20's, currently about 50-50 grey hair mixed with brown, plus a receding hairline (thanks Dad). Will definitely never dye - my wife still likes me, so I don't give a damn.

IIRC you get your hairline from your maternal genes, so your Pop had nuttin' to do with that.

My hair is leaving the building and it has a few grays. I'll leave it alone, outta fear it might get angry.:smug:

Thanks for the tip Dan. I'll have to check with my doc against some meds I take, but I'm probably headed to GNC :hyper:

:D

God Bless, Ray

I've been dying mine for awhile. Part of it is that salt & pepper does nothing for me, part of it is between oily skin and being heavy my face does not look old, so it works.

Do you wear your hair short, medium, or long? The shorter you wear your hair the more upkeep is needed to have it look right. Also are/were you dark, medium or light haired? The trick with dying is that you want to minimize contrast while having it look natural. My natural hair color is off black. I use a medium brown dye probably 3 shades lighter then my natural. This way there is a slight contrast difference between the hair that has and hasn't gone gray, but the whole thing doesn't look too dark. The #1 problem with men dying their hair is going too dark, then it doesn't look natural.

Great advice. One more thing - there is a HUGE difference between going gray and going white. I'm talking zero salt and pepper - just salt - very pure salt. The gray thing can be cool and looks great on some people. The white OTOH, can be a total bummer - especially if you have very dark hair which makes it even more noticeable. And for me is the reason I dye. Personally, I went pretty quick right to white no stop (not even for a minute) at gray. YMMV. Of course, there is no right or wrong on this issue. It's a very individual decision. Whatever works for you is the right answer.

I got my first grey hair at 14. Wasn't S&P until my late 30s, now S&P in my beard, too.
Abstained from voting because I'm not "Grey and proud", but nor am I embarrassed about it. It is what it is and it's a Non-issue. I'm secure with who I am (ok, at least about my grey hair).

...
dyed ALWAYS looks it, just like ANY 'piece REGARDLESS of price!

+1

Just...don't.
+2, so true, people see right through. Yet an obvious dye job can still look "good" in some rare instances even though it is obvious.

... I'd say probably 7 out of 10 people you see in public anymore have dyed hair.
:p 7/10? What's the ratio if you only consider men? 1/10 or smaller?

... Looking wise and experienced requires more than grey hair; it takes the right body language and the right wardobe helps too.
^^ This is true, if you're confident with yourself you can pull off looking wise whether you are so or not.

So you dye your hair blue & black? The OP did send out the RSVP to grays only. :ninja:

Yet another reason I'm glad I play jazz....
I, too, am glad you play Jazz EF. And you look sharp, cool and comfortable doing so.

Rock what you've got and don't worry about it.
Yep.

... I don’t hold it against anyone for dying their hair, so long as it looks natural. Old wrinkled faces with jet black hair is simply funny.

:)
Yup. I chuckle at the aged 70+ local guys who've got dried-prune faces under jet black hair (I live in China to add some context to "local"). Whatever, it makes them happy. I don't recommend it (see +2 above), but go for it, it's not my hair/ego/life. I don't hold it against 'em, but I don't think they look good either, 'cause even leaving a touch of grey never seems to look natural.

... The one thing no one has mentioned is having a good style. It makes a huge difference having a nice sharp cut - look at George Clooney!

And no tied-back pony tails with bald heads either.
Yes to "good style" & "get a good cut", no to "look at George Clooney". ;)

Just don't do the comb-over or skullet :D
+1 If I were going bald, I'd keep my hair cut very short or shave. No biggie.

... One more thing - there is a HUGE difference between going gray and going white... It's a very individual decision. Whatever works for you is the right answer.
Grey/White, no matter. Whatever works.

... (premature gray hair runs in my family)...
 "Premature"? Yeah, if your kid goes grey by the age of 2, you might want to consult a doctor about premature gray hair. Anything in adulthood I wouldn't consider premature -- just a layperson's point of view; consult an expert for what is truly premature.

Coloured hair looks coloured. A comb-over looks like a comb-over. A 'piece looks like a taxidermist's failure.

Bottom line is, do what makes you feel good about yourself, and if someone asks, say "Yeah, I colour my hair, I like it". I still advocate au naturel.

Fast approaching 49 and I still have a full head of hair... my balding buddy has nick named me "dog hair"! LOL
Started going grey about 7 years ago, the "goat" is almost completely grey.
I guess I'm really old school as my way of thinking has me questioning the retention of my man card, should I get my hair dyed.
As with all things, to each their own, but I do find it humorous when I see folks who have obviously dyed their hair to fit into what they perceive themselves to be. Reality can be a bit of a downer.

Nice colored hair is what chicks want! :D
Chicks like gray hair.
My hair is colored! Gray is a color! :D

The female singer in my band recently informed us guys that women don't care about the gray hair. I thought it was interesting that she felt qualified to speak for all women everywhere.

I haven't dyed my hair, but I have dyed my beard where it's gone white in the front a few times. I guess it depends how vain I'm feeling. Most people don't seem to notice either way.

Edit: I just turned 55 a couple of weeks ago.
