I clicked in here expecting to find a cool, informative thread but instead--starting as early as post #2--I just find this thread offensive. We can have all sorts of Gay & Lesbian clubs and threads around here but as soon as someone uses the word "Christian" hoards of people seem to feel the uncontrolable needs to pop off with all their disrespect and opposition.
It's just ridiculous, folks.

Maybe that's because homosexuality is not offensive to some people like religion is. Myself included.

Very much! Love his playing on the older Not of This World and Beat the System albums, and the new re-recordings they just did. I picked up the new Back to the Rock album half-expecting to be let down what with the whole 'remake' fad of this decade but was very impressed. This coming from a non-christian.
Fair point I suppose, but I can't resist the occasional pro atheism sentiment, just to balance all the god bothering nonsense that seems so prevalent here.

I'd disagree. I had been playing bass for a couple of years already but way back in the WhiteHeart days he made me want to put thumb to string. No, he's no Mark King or Larry Graham... but in my impressionable little mind his slap lines in that concert were pretty awesome.
Cool Story Bro Time: A few years ago I was selling a Frankenjazz on another site, either Harmony Central or BassGear.com and one of the replies was from Anthony. I don't remember if I had already sold the bass or if it just didn't work for him, but we traded several emails and talked about that concert that got me into the slap thing. Cool Guy.

Christian is a Marketing Genre - this is just a valid question as "metal, funk, rock, Reggae etc).
As a worship leader, I've studied just about everything on the Klove rotation. There's very little that in the current rotation that blows me away.--- it's the stuff on Black Choirs that always blows me away.... by far the tightest timing is the back line behind 100 voices... I'm partial to the Mass Choirs.

You really listen to Cooper? He's more show than anything plus the producer or manager plays bass for them on some songs. At least I'm not impressed.
A lot of Christian bands have 'lifted' material from secular bands. Forget which P&W song it is right now, but I wind up playing a John McVie bass line to it all the time. WL thinks it sounds great.

The challenge for finding notable commercial Christian Bassists will be the big labels do tons and tons of production....... the key is to be singable and then CCLI license the tunes for Sunday morning.

Sorry Jeff 66... I posted before I read your post. Regardless... I'd rather have a beer with DUg Pinnick more than anyone else mentioned in the thread. He's been my favorite musician since I picked up "Out of the Silent Planet" in 88.
