We've been using Baba O'riley as a closer for a long time. We simplify the intro though, typically just do the basic arpeggio riff on guitar.

Last time I subbed for a friend's cover band they closed with this. The crowd loved it. The beauty of it is its flexibility. You can really play around with it and take it in so many different directions. The guys I played with said they never played it exactly the same way twice. They just took their cues from the crowd and rolled with it.

Straightforward rocker. Takes all of maybe 5 minutes to learn and another 5 to work up an arrangement for it.

This is our most frequent closer. The lyrics are a great fit and at that time of the night fans of The Doors are out in good numbers.

It always went over really well. Helps to have a very strong singer on it, which we did.

A medley! (without kidding!!!)

Our last three shows we've ended with a Led Zeppelin medley and it's gone over very well.

The medley starts with the intro of How Many More Times. Right before the vocals would start we break into Whole Lotta Love, then before the solo we go into Communication Breakdown. We play all of CB, then as it ends we go back to the solo of WLL, finish that song and finally we go back into the intro part of HMMT.

Last show as we were ringing out at the end, the guitar player and I broke into Dazed and Confused.... It seemed to be a hit with the crowd so I think we're going to try to rework the medley to fit it in.

After a whole evening of playing "relatively normal" cover band music, we liked closing our shows with something a little unexpected. Two of our favorites were Time Warp from the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Wild Wild Life by Talking Heads.

Bring Me To Life by Evanescence is in there too. We play a mix lol.

Green Day's "Closing Time"

Oddly, I DID find a Youtube video consisting of Semisonic's song with pics of Green Day slideshowing over it. Why someone did that, I have no idea.

In Mugshot Monday, we generally end with AC/DC, Highway to Hell or TNT. TNT is my preference - you have that chaotic chromatic climb up the end and then just basically blow $$## up. End on a bang. Crowds love that.

When I had my alt/indie cover band Six Cowards, we did something in the same vein by ending with the Joy Formidable's "Whirring." Not widely known, but it had that same big roar blowup ending jam that felt good to end on.

Back in the day we always closed in the clubs with 2 songs, back to back - "Killing in the Name of" - RATM and "Stinkfist" - Tool. It was well known we we play these two to end the night. Not for weddings or coproate gigs of course, just bars.

Now, many years later and a new band, we almost always end the evening with "Fight for your Right" - Beastie Boys. I say almost always because sometimes we will do a few more songs after or if one of the guys is not wanting to do that, we can change it up quickly.
