Great cover or devolution into elevator music?

Sounds good! I like seeing folks look like they're having a good time.
I'm not a huge Zeppelin fan though. I know they influenced everyone, but they were just a touch before my time, so didn't impact me directly. I just appreciate it for what it is.
I get it though. I had the same kind of feeling when I heard Simon and Garfunkel do their reunion at Madison square garden.
I traded my Nintendo that I had begged my dad for over an entire year for an 8 track player and 2 speakers my friend found in the garbage...because it came with bridge over troubled water. They did have a direct impact on me.
Then years later I heard the msg show.
I wanted to punch them both as soon as I heard those cheesy keyboards.

The bass was (if memory serves) pretty much spot-on (and a great bass part it was!). I thought it was pretty good, overall, but I'm not a die-hard Zep fan. Now, if they'd tried something like this with a Rush or Yes song, well, I'd be all up in arms!

I've heard some pretty weird Muzak versions of popular music (like Pink Floyd?!?), but another platform is marching band music. My daughter played clarinet in high school, and their marching band played "Journey to the Center of your Mind" by Ted Nugent. Still another odd format - another daughter plays violin in a string orchestra, and they did "Secret Agent Man". Both renditions were decent, but at the same time, amusing.

I liked it.

Say what you will.

I will say that with their instrumentation and musical choices, that I'd love to hear them cover something like No Quarter or Achilles' Last Stand (I think Ramble On was okay, but I think Last Stand would be a great fit for what they do and I think they could really bring something to it.)

I got part way through the first chorus and there was still 6 minutes to go and I wondered where else I could be.
The bassist did faithfully recreate the original bass part which did hold the rest of the new fatuous arrangement together.
I didn't care for the tasteful string section or the tasteful pianist or the tasteful vocalist and her tasteful scarf.

Close, but it's mostly a miss for me due to lack of focus. I'd prefer a greater amount of deconstruction, personally. Several years ago I had a club gig mixing these folks, who have a way of springing some real mashup surprises:

Edit: as with all YouTube vids (IMO), best listened to and not watched.

Nice upbeat version.

The antithesis of rock IMO.

Yet another “tasteful reinterpretation” of a rock song by of a group of highly skilled and educated musicians who are slumming in a genre they either don’t “get” or maybe just don't have any real respect for.

Sometimes just hitting "like" isn't enough. Really we'll said Mr. Hertz.

My brother said a long time ago, "If you're going to cover Led Zep you better do different or do it better. I think with this rendition, they didn't do it different enough and it certainly ain't better.

Some things in this cover are kind of interesting and its executed well but I miss Bonzo and the fire of the original seems diluted.

What you guys think?

Interesting is a good descriptor. From a dude born in the 50s, give me Zep any day over this, even as handicapped by Plant as they were compared to this version.

BTW, since it was mentioned by another poster, I had a root canal a couple of weeks ago, a song by Blue Cheer was on the musak.....lol

For those that aren’t familiar with Blue Cheer, in the 60s they were the loudest band in the world. They did a recording on the Hudson River, where they played on one side, the recording equipment was on the other side...to kind of give you an idea.

Yes indeed Mr. Mugre. Contrast that with the Wilson Sisters Kennedy Center Honors performance of Stairway to Heaven. They took one of the most often joked about classics in the history of rock music and elevated it into something almost spiritual before it was finished.
