Her scarf annoys me.
The electric guitar annoys me.
Maybe I'm just irritable.

For those that aren’t familiar with Blue Cheer, in the 60s they were the loudest band in the world. They did a recording on the Hudson River, where they played on one side, the recording equipment was on the other side...to kind of give you an idea.
lol. agreed.I wanted to punch them both as soon as I heard those cheesy keyboards.
I am reminded of my high school band director. We would all, with some justification, dump on Muzak. But he pointed out that elevator music kept a lot of musicians gainfully employed so they could work on other things that didn't pay.
I have no problem with radically reinterpreting a song. Postmodern Jukebox does it all the time and it's amazing. The problem with this, in my opinion, is that it's actually TOO much like Zeppelin. They make a gesture toward rocking out the chorus, but then stuff it with a couple of easy-listening chords at the end. If they had gone for a full-on sophisticated Lake Street Dive-style take on the song it could have been very cool.
Here's an example of a totally changed cover, mellowing out a rock song, that I think really works: Joss Stone making a funk tune out of the White Stripes.
(original song for those who don't know it):
The intro... ah yes... clearly the KB player was the contractor... agree 100%I actually kind of like it. Not as much as the original though. If I heard a cover band doing it in a club, I would like it. If it was a LZ tribute band, not so much.
The intro did nothing for me or the song, though.
+1 EXACTLY!This is a song open to a lot of options to play with it, but the intro is a total waste, and the rest is just a re-hash.
Pass.
Some things in this cover are kind of interesting and its executed well but I miss the fire of the original seems diluted.
What you guys think?
