Great music recorded on cheap instruments

P bass, but totally unidentifiable (by me anyway) guitars. Japanese? The Studio One house band, probably late '60s.

Should add that I'm trying to find out what the geets might be, as this kind of thing was commonplace in photos from the ska and rocksteady into early reggae period. If there's an equivalent available today, I'm on it. Danelectro might be closest?...

EDIT: sweet mother o' mine, I think I've identified the one at right as a Teisco K-56! Persistence pays! :D

They tried to replicate certain elements of this, in the studio. The effort fell flat.​



What we got, in the end, was the goods: a fireside chat with a spark of history, ready, raw, and off-the-cuff, in the firelight.
