Great Pizza

I remember going to Buddy's about 25 years ago because Shields in Hamtramck was closed. My family loved that pies at that original Shields location, but that was way back before they started to franchise.
I heard a story that the original pizza chef from Buddys left Buddys and went to Shields Pizza. That's why pizza from Buddys and Shields taste almost identical.

When in New England I always make the trip into Boston's "North End" for the original Pizzeria Regina. There is a reason the line is always out the door and around the corner. Besides the fact that the place is tiny.

Zachary's (www.zacharys.com) is my favorite, up in the Bay Area. Good deep dish style pies there.
Pizza Port (www.pizzaport.com) is where I usually go around here. The pizza's not exceptional (above average but not setting records) but the microbrews they have on tap -- many of which they brew themselves -- make it a good place to grab a tasty meal.

Hound Dog's Pizza in Columbus, OH. Right at the corner of Dodridge and N. High. It's open 24/7 too. Capnsandwich, how could you forget about Hound Dogs... lol.

I've had Manati's and Gino's East, but the best deep dish I've ever had is Pazzapopalas in Greektown in the D. Buddy's is great traditional pizza.
Pizzeria Regina is one of the best pies I've had in Boston. I don't live in the north end though and am mostly surrounded by college joints that serve large bland slices for cheap. Not that it's a bad thing but not the best tasting, I did try what I think is a local chain called crazy dough and they actually had a good red sauce.
