Teengenerate - Smash Hits! (not a greatest hits record)

We all can cite the classics (bollocks, london calling, out come the wolves) but NOFX gets a nod for Liberal Animation. They were a typical downward slide band in my opinion, but this album absolutely rules.
Ducky Boys "Three chords and the Truth" or "Dark Days" for the Boston thing.
Pennywise "About Time" for the high school nostalgia
Rancid anything up to and including their "Rancid 2000" record was pretty great. OCTW is everyones favorite, though I personally lean a little toward "Let's Go", and Corazon/Black Lung from LWW are incredible
Lets not forget "Suicide Machines" self titled. Another punk basser who got me in to the instrument, despite my horror in discovering he was not as amazing as I thought.
And lets be honest with ourselves, "1039 smoothed out slappy hours" was chock full of tunes to get you chicks in middle school. The lyrics to "only of you" hastily scribbled on a note would always work. Kerplunk had its points too.

Cool. I just came across an old 7" a while back, I need to dust it off and give it a listen. Still have my vinyl copy of Family Affair too. There are a few videos on youtube...

'Mess Me Up' is one of THEE best album opening songs ever... and the cover of 'Kicked Out of The Weebalos' (The Queers) is soooo good.... Radio55, Fake Fake Fake, Dressed in Black.... hsdgfljgruifgq;riofgqr TEENGENERATE is so good!!
Also... really surprised no one mentioned The Queers or Screeching Weasel at ALL...

TEENGENERATE did rule, but the recordings are so lo-fi that they would make most people's ears bleed.
ha, my 2 favorite garage punk bands of that era didn't even have bass players! The Gories and OBLIVIANS. yeah!

Oh man... i'm such a sucker for messy lo-fi goodness...
Just this past weekend we played some shows in NYC. For once, i got to control the ipod in the van and i playd a Mummies! ("**** CDs, it's the Mummies.") album... one of my guitarists said, "dude, that's so lo-fi i thought it was coming from your phone..."

Hey, that's me playing bass on that album! Thanks! Although I have to say, my basslines on there were nothing fancy. Appropriate for the music, though, which I guess is what's important.
It's good to see Teengenerate love! There aren't that many videos of them out there or anything.
I am also a big fan of Guitar Wolf. They even did a cover of "Let's Get Hurt". I'm hesitant to recommend them all over the place though because I think Teengenerate is a little more accessible. Guitar Wolf is for when you want to sword-guitar UFOs in half as quickly as possible before feedback liquefies your brain.

Man, i saw Guitar Wolf on the tour Bass Wolf passed away...
R.I.P. Billy
Lucky...I've never been able to see them. They just had a US tour in September-Oct, but it was 7 dates and they were all big cities. It would have been great to see Billy-era playing. My dad randomly saw them in a bar 10 years ago and said they were the loudest band he's ever heard.
Don't tell anyone this...but I don't think they're as good without Billy.
HOWEVER -- they do have a new album coming out in November. On that note, Guitar Wolf has the best song titles, some of them crack me up. Midnight Violence Rock'n'Roll!
I saw them a couple of times back in the 90ies. They were very loud and not that good musically, but funny to watch..
