There is another thread. Electric amps is a brand that sells amps made by Class A Electronics. I think a dude from Class A, John Mcneece has gone solo, making his own stuff, but isn't very net savvy, but if you are interested, PM an I'll send you his email address. Electric started off importing Matamp amps from the UK, but they never made bass amps during this period.
Orange was a brand that commissioned Matamp to make amps for them, then they continued making their own amps, without association with Matamp. The current Orange isn't related to Matamp at all, and most stuff is made in China, sometimes 'assembled' in the UK, rather than boutique handwired stuff.
Green amps (capital G) were made by Matamp whilst the had Dave Green as their chief engineer (he now works for Ashdown/Hayden), which coincided with what became Electric amps importing Matamps. The had a bunch of Green vinyl at the time, but there are Green amps in other colours, because it is just a name, and you could get green coloured Matamps to order in the 70s. Electric make amp sleeves in green, with green on the faceplate.
White were another company that commission Matamp to make a line of amps.
In practice, true Matamps are build to be clean machines, the main man Matt Matthias hated distortion so much he quit making amps for instruments and switched to PA. Dave Green era (after Matt died, and one of the employees took over, who didn't have the electronics knowledge) ones were guitar amps, and they tended to be dirtier for the American market, with drive channels and such. Electric amps are big dirty filth monsters, not just preamp gain, but across the board growly harmonic distortion. They are stylish, but you can get the same without the styling from elsewhere. Current Matamps are superbly built handwired amps, that go across the history of Matamp, so you can have super clean, or drivey if you want, everything is built to order. The US distro is Link Removed and Zach is a totally good dude to deal with.
