Gretsch G5123B serial numbers

I know than one TB member just bought one of these from the Lynnwood WA store and they still have one more hanging on the wall right now.

The ONLY reason that Lynnwood had two at one time was that they had one each shipped from the Seattle and Kirkland stores to them for comparison.

I was browsing the GC store in Miami when I waiting for my flight on friday, when I came across this beautifull Gretsch which came with me across the Atlantic :)

I think the serial number is KS110730F7, but know the "F" doesn't make much sense. Can anyone help from the picture below?

I'm on my phone so the picture is not very big... but that F actually looks like an 8 to me... fast handwritten...

And the last number sure looks like a 3 to me. Not a 7.

Haha Yes it is definitely printed on the headstock in very legible font

My bass is serial number KS10104977, purchased at the Nashville GC on 10/24/11. I was able to get a peek at the computer as I was checking out and it looked like they'd sold at least one G5123B prior to mine.

Bonus: I stopped back by the Nashville store today with my daughter and they already had a replacement G5123B hanging on the wall! If anybody would like to purchase serial number KS11073564, it's selling for $849.00 and GC has a $100.00 off coupon active right now. :bassist:

Edit: I've also added this info to the other (:confused:) serial number thread.

Just picked up #11074169 in Milwaukee on Friday. Salesman said they've sold maybe 5 or 6 since last fall. $849 tag but got $120 off with whatever sale is going on now.

I played one there a few months ago but didin't pull the trigger. My wife was with me this time and we only stopped to buy some strings for an xmas present. I saw it hanging there calling my name. She MADE me play it. Then she MADE me buy it. She rocks!

Immediately put a broken in set of Chromes on it when we got home. Man, what a sound! Great bass at a great price. Can't wait to see how she does with the band...

I bought mine over the weekend as well (North Houston, Texas). SN: KS11064012. They moved the price down from $849 to $799, which I thought was good until I read the post above me ($120 discount! Wow!).

I've ordered some nylon tape wounds for this, and can't wait to have a fully operational thump machine!

Update: Installed the nylon tape wounds and it sounds amazing! Sound clips and review here:

Folks!! The G5123B has finally hit the websites at Guitar Center and Musicians Friend! It must be a new listing because all that shows on the web pages is the bass, no specs, info or reviews yet.

Price: $999. (Retail listed at $1400)
Color: Burgundy.

This makes the $799 that a lot of us paid look really, really good. And personally, I'm delighted to have the bass in the orange that Gretsch does better than any other maker. The burgundy looks great, but I guess we'll all be able to tell the first run of this excellent bass by color.

I wonder if the s/n info will be radically different?

So... a few weeks ago, I was in the GC in Atlanta and found one of these without having ever heard of it before. I played it for a good hour or so and was hooked. But they wouldn't come down on the $869 price. I ended up finding a used one online in the Dallas, Texas store - for just $600. With a case!

Just brought it home and checked the serial number: 10104866. It looks like my bass migrated from Ft. Collins to Dallas, and is now here in Atlanta. The action is too low and the E is a bit weak, so it needs some work. But otherwise it sounds great! Was this one yours, Pilgrim?
